Raveena Tandon on her return and why her kids don't see her movies
Raveena Tandon is on the comeback trail. The actress has just completed a bilingual project and has begun work on her next B-Town flick. There are also more movies in the pipeline. The mother of two, who is also working out to get into shape, spells out her plans.
You are back facing the arclights.
Yes, I am. But I detest the term comeback. It is so overrated. I prefer to say I am back after a maternity break. In all professions, women take a break and so is the case with actresses but they have to face this big 'comeback' tag!
Aap Ke Liye was supposed to be your comeback movie?
I shot for Revathy Varma's film only for two days. Right now I don't know what is happening to the project; it is on hold. But whenever I check with Revathy she says the movie is on.
Meanwhile you decided to take on more projects?
I have finished shooting for Raja Sen's The Laboratory which is a bilingual (Bengali and Hindi). It is based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore and is part of his 150th birth anniversary celebrations. Though he penned the story in the 1920s, the plot and characters are as if it happened today.
You are also doing television?
I was in Kolkata recently for the finale of the dance reality show Chance Pe Dance. I was the celeb judge. The show is produced by actress Rituparna Sengupta and is on the local Kolkata channel. My daughter Raasha had come along with me as she loves music and dance. She still loves to watch CDs of Chak De Bachche that I had judged a while back.
Have your kids seen any of your movies?
My daughter Raasha is five. She asks me: "So you are an actress?" But she is not too keen to sit and watch any film of mine. She would rather see a music show. So I guess I don't have any fans here! While my son Ranbir is still young to understandu00a0-- he is two.
Last week, one more of your films went on the floors.
There was the mahurat of Agni which is being directed by Rajiv Walia who was Mukul Anand's assistant. The film takes a look at what is happening in these days of Khap Panchayats. I essay a character that is a catalyst for the change.
Your other projects?
I will feature in Soumik Sen's Gulab Gang as well as Raja Sen's Rishtey for which the rest of the cast is being ascertained.
At the Agni mahurat your face looked different?
Why would I go in for botox? Why would I want fatter lips? Why would I inject fat, when I want to lose fat! My lips have always been like this. My upper lip is thin so it needs to appear more fuller. This is how all makeup artistes do up my face. Ever since my modelling days with Prahlad Kakar, I was always the one chosen for close ups of lips. So I used to be with full makeup done on my lips.
