Dev-ouring his workout

Actor Rahul Dev is known for his passion for fitness. And he strongly feels that being fit isn't just about getting a six pack. It is a holistic process. Rahul, who will soon be seen in films like Shaapit, Run Bhola Run and Sultan-The Warrior, shares his fitness secrets with CS:

Fit hai to hit hai

Staying fit is a very important part of my life. However, I am not a gym junkie, and believe in core functional training. Working out helps me beat stress and gives me a high. It helps me stay positive and balanced throughout the day. I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activitiesu00a0be it jogging, swimming or playing sports. Sometimes, I set out for a run even at 11pm. Recently I attended a boot camp in South Africa. We spent three days in the Table Mountains indulging in all kinds of physical activities. I believe being fit means having strength, stamina, endurance and flexibility.

My regime...

I have devised my own method of training that exercises every muscle. My normal routine has different sets of push ups, pull ups and lunges. I also do lower back stretches. I vary all these exercises in terms of grip, intensity and frequency, but I stick to the basics. That's enough to exercise my chest, stomach, shoulder, biceps and back. The most important aspect of all these exercises is to get your posture and breathing technique right. I also meditate daily for a minimum of ten minutes.

Mean meals

I believe in eating five small meals a day. The adage: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper is perfect for good health. I am a pure vegetarian and prefer organic food. Feeding your body at regular intervals increases your metabolism. Post-dinner, I take a walk for about ten-fifteen minutes.
Avoiding stress is important for fitness. Excessive stress releases hormones that can cause obesity, digestive problems as well as conditions like insomnia. So, I try and be as chilled as possible.u00a0
