Though he made his acting debut on TV in 1978, Clooney gained fame by portraying Dr Douglas 'Doug' Ross on the long-running medical drama ER.u00a0

While working on the show, he started attracting a variety of leading roles in films like Batman & Robin. In 2001, Clooney's fame widened with Ocean's Eleven. He made his directorial debut with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Syriana.

Clooney slept in a friend's closet for a year while waiting for his big break.

After his divorce from Talia Balsam, Clooney said he would never get married again. But Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman bet $10,000 each that he would be a father before he turns 40. As it turns out, they both lost the bet.
