A teenage love story set against the backdrop of reggaeton has rapper Omarion aspiring to be a singer- dancer.
Using music and dance as the driving force to take the story ahead, the film is a mash-up of Step Up and High School Musical.
There are subplots of family discord, gangster wars, and of course, a lot of singing and dancing along the way.u00a0
What's hot: The pairing is fresh and lends adequate support to the plot. Those who love reggae and R&B mixed with some fresh dance hallu00a0 tunes will be in for a treat.u00a0

What's not: When you are serving a feel-good musical set in Puerto Rico, you pretty much expect it to be easy on the eyes and light on the ears.
However, Chomski takes the diagonal route and makes the film into a long and tiring Sunday sermon making social commentaries and quoting heavy lines hard to decipher.
There are too many characters who drag down the flow and the second half proceeds at a snail's pace.

Omarion's scenes where he pushes to get a record deal and fights with studio executives is unconvincing in today's world of American Idol where cutting an album isn't that tough a nut to crack.
There's a sense that the movie is being rushed to meet its end way before its time.u00a0

What to do: Like an orchestra trying to play jazz at a hip-hop club, the film is no music to your ears with it's weak script and age old sub plots. Skip it.
