A mind game
I love to fish in salt water as well as fresh water. Fishing trains you to be calm and focussed. Any hurried or unsure strike of the rod means you lose the fish.
It also helps me relax and stay alert at the same time, since a fish may take the bait suddenly, and response time is crucial to catch the fish. Fishing helps me find peace within myself.

I travel to many places to indulge in my hobby, including the Cauveri River off Bangalore. This river is famous for the mighty Masheer fish! When I fish, I quietly listen to the sounds of the jungle around me.
I can watch the different species of birds and listen to the deer call across the river or maybe the Langur monkey sounding an alarm call if he has spotted a panther lurking near by. On one such occasion, a panther killed a Sambhar stag right behind me where I was fishing!
Once, I kept fishing by the river allu00a0 night long. It was quite an awesome experience to be literally bathed in moonlight on the water's edge watching out for crocodiles and wild animals, including elephants, all around the riverside. And then before I realised the time, the sun arose, what a beautiful sight that was!u00a0u00a0
