Archana Vijaya, a sports channel anchor, was recently in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, for the Asia Cup. Archana made the most of her time there by going for long walks and runs by the lake and resort. She shares her fitness secrets with CS:



Healthy dose
I believe in eating healthy with a decent amount of exerciseu00a0-- what you eat is what you are. So, don't expect to have a beautiful body if you eat lots of fattening stuff. But I feel that you should treat yourself once in a while and try and eat small portions of all the scrumptious not-so-healthy delights you love.

I start my day with a breakfast of toast and eggs or cornflakes with juice and lunch consists of chappati with dal, green veggies and chicken. A grilled chicken sandwich or chicken hakka noodles is also wonderful. Dinner is normally grilled chicken, fish, with vegetables. If I eat out with my friends, we try to keep it as healthy as possible. I love to binge on Asian cuisine, which is quite healthy and yummy if you order the right things!

Balancing act
I work out five times a week and I like to mix things up. I like running, so I use the treadmill and crosstrainer for cardio and then I do some free-weight training to tone up.
Outdoor runs and walks are infact more rejuvenating than doing it in the gym. I also do traditional yoga and meditation three times a week, which is super for the body, mind and soul. Yoga sculpts your body really well and reduces the risk of injury. You learn to use your own body weight, which helps you in becoming strong from within and meditation helps down calm your mind.u00a0

In the rains
On weekends, especially monsoons, I go for treks around Maharashtra. There are some steep mountain climbs that make for a great work out and at the top awaits a spectacular view. But when I climb down, I reward myself with a couple of vada pavs (smiles).
