All's fair in love and Bollywood. Pakhi met and fell in love with a writer-filmmaker, but didn't want to reveal to him that she's an aspiring actor.

So she wrote a script instead. Now about to star in the film she's written and her husband Abbas Tyrewala has directed, she talks about why she thinks people lie:

WHO: Pakhi Tyrewala
WHAT: Readying for the release of her film

On a lighter note

As kids, all of us are taught how lying is bad, but even so we lie at times to make our loved ones feel better. And so, I wanted to show the light side of lying through my script.

It's impossible to go through life without lying. But thankfully I lie so well that I've never been caught doing it (laughs)! But on a serious note, the one person I just cannot lie to is my mother.

She immediately comes to know, as she has realised that the moment I tell a lie, my eyes turn light brown. So till today, and by God's grace, I've never lied to her about anything.

Scribe in the family

My father's a writer and my mom's a big fan of books. Since my early childhood, they encouraged me to read a lot. I'd written a script a few years back too, but I realised that I wanted to be an actor.

This was before I met Abbas. And though I had the talent for writing, it was only after I met him that I understood the technicalities ofu00a0 writing a script.

It was when I was vacationing in London and Abbas started shooting Jaane Tu ufffdu00a0 that I started my script that has actually shaped up into a film.

In the realm of fiction
My imagination is extremely fertile, all thanks to reading. I read vociferously and that too fiction, majorly. I love fantasy and books on magic realism, especially Haruki Murakami's books.

Aragon is one of my favourites. I'm a big fan of the Orson Scott Card's books, I've read and reread his series. In fact, Abbas and I found a common love for J K Rowling's Harry Potter series.

I came to love books like Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace as my dad would read them aloud to me. At present, I'm reading Devdutt Patnaik's The Pregnant King, a book that's on Indian mythology.
