Although he's a classical flautist, Pandit Ronu Majumdar owes his career to the legendary RD Burman, who guided him in the initial stages of his career. Ronu tells CS about five of his favourite RD compositions:

I like the song Bada Natkat Hai Re from Amar Prem because of the Khamaj raag in it. RD was the king of Khamaj raag. For me, he was ahead of time. He was better than his father, SD Burman.u00a0

Dum Maro Dum from the movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna is another favourite. This chartbuster had a western touch, which was new to Indian music. The song is a masterpiece in itself and only RD was capable of doing it justice.u00a0

Kishore Da's Yeh Kya Hua from Amar Prem is my favourite for its emotive quotient. It's not just a song, but also a story telling in itself. It portrays the life of a person in a very rhetoric effect keeping it in sync.

u00a0Ek Ladki Ko Dekha from 1942: Love story, which was his last work, but one of his finest. RD also won the Filmfare award for Best Music Director Of The Year in 1994 for this film. The other reason that the film is really close to me is that this was one of the films that polished my talent and gave me a boost in my career.u00a0

The song Musafir Hoon Yaaron from Parichay brings out the actual Kishore Da in him. RD knew that the song was made for Kishore Da only and he made him sing that number. The art of making a song the identity of the singer was one quality that only RD was gifted with.
