What it's about: The Indian movie scenario is finally ready for parodies, so be ready for some mind-boggling dhamaal of the retro kind. Best described as a spoof on South Indian (read Rajnikanth) films, Quick Gun Murugan (Rajendra Prasad) is a vegetarian cowboy, who is murdered by a small-time don, Rice Plate Reddy (Naseer).

He returns from heaven to extract revenge 25 later when Reddy is a successful hotelier who wants to launch McDosa, a chain of restaurants serving the best dosas in the world.

During his search for his enemy, Murugun meets Reddy's moll, Mango Dolly (Rambha) who falls in love with him but his heart belongs to Locket Girl (Anu Menon). How he finally gets to his enemy is what the film is all about.u00a0

What's hot: Expect the unexpected. Be ready to fall in love with a middle-aged man in a bottle green short, leopard print waistcoat and red pants, who mouths dialogues like, "I am a cowboy; it is my duty to protect cows."

This colourful film revels in its own silliness. Each character comes with his own music track, which plays every time he or she is on the screen. The best part of this truly 100 percent comedy is that it is completely original. Quick Gun Murugun is an entertaining, funny and delightful ride from the songs to the fight sequences.

The dialogues, the costumes and the characters are all in sync with the madcap flavour of the film. QGM has cameos by Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak, Sandhya Mridul and Gaurav Kapur. The fight scene inspired by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is shot well.

There are nods to other Hollywood flicks like The Matrix and Full Contact too. The CGI effects are top-notch. Rambha is perfectly cast and delivers her most natural performance to date. But it's Rajendra Prasad's show all the way as Murugan, he'll sweep you off your feet. Even Raju Sundaram as MBA is hilarious.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

What's not: If only the director had added some Hindi dialogues, the parody would've been complete.u00a0 Also, even with its 90-minute run seems a little overdrawn in the second half.u00a0

What to do: Eat a dosa and head to a theatre near you.
