The makers of Welcome had announced its sequel a long time ago but work’s still to begin on the film. While the casting is still going on for it, we hear that Asin is no longer a part of the project. Instead, Shruti Haasan has been roped in in her place. According to sources, Shruti will play the lead opposite John Abraham.

Says a source, “Earlier Sonakshi Sinha was finalised for the film however her dates were clashing with Prabhu Deva’s next with Ajay Devgn. Bazmee then roped in Asin.” But apparently the makers got keen to approach Shruti after watching her recent releases D-Day and Ramaiya Vastavaiya.

Asin

Confirms director Anees Bazmee, “Yes, it is true. We were talking to a lot of actresses including Asin. Shruti fits the bill better. We are still looking for an ideal replacement for Firoz Khan’s role.”u00a0
