Fitoor producer Pragyaa Kapoor calls film 'masterclass in scriptwriting'

It’s rare to see a wholesome romantic drama continue to resonate with the same enthusiasm it enjoyed at the time of its release — and Fitoor is one such film. Starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur, the film has completed a decade since its release and continues to remain relevant. Marking 10 years of Fitoor, producer Pragya Kapoor reflected on how the film made her fall in love with filmmaking. Pragya Kapoor reflects on Fitoor Looking back, Pragyaa revealed that the film’s script deeply shaped her understanding of cinema. “I remember the first time I read Fitoor. It was written by Abhishek Kapoor and Supratik Sen. That script is a masterclass in scriptwriting. I’ve read a lot of scripts since then- both before and after- and I think I learned so much about filmmaking from that script. Honestly, it’s one of our best-written scripts to date,” she said.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Pragyaa Kapoor (@pragyakapoor_) Pragyaa also shared how Fitoor made her fall in love with producing and became one of the key reasons she chose the profession. “Fitoor opened my eyes to what producing truly is. It made me fall in love with producing, and it’s one of the reasons I am producing today. The visuals and music are still relevant. People continue to post about it and feel nostalgic. That’s the beauty of filmmaking — you don’t make a film for now, you make a film for forever — and I think Fitoor did that,” she added. More about Fitoor Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Fitoor is a musical romantic drama based on the 1861 novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.   It follows Noor, a talented Kashmiri artist, and his lifelong obsession with Firdaus, the daughter of the wealthy and vengeful Begum Hazrat. The film's soundtrack, composed by Amit Trivedi, has gained a cult following over the last decade. The film is noted for its "painterly" cinematography by Anay Goswamy and detailed costume design. Much of it was shot in Srinagar and a palace in Poland. Even a decade later, the film continues to be remembered for its classic songs, breathtaking Kashmir landscapes, compelling performances, and crisp storytelling that transports audiences into a world of love, longing, separation, and art. Its enduring appeal is proof that good cinema can truly leave a lasting impact.

‘Nobody’s Gonna Kill Me’: Priyanka Chopra reveals reason for hiring bodyguards

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, four years ago. Like any parents, the couple has been very protective of her. Priyanka often covers her daughter’s face with an emoji while sharing pictures on Instagram. The actress has now revealed that she hired security largely for her daughter’s safety. While she appreciates fans’ love, she does not approve of being recorded without consent. Priyanka Chopra on hiring bodyguards Recently, while attending the Golden Globe Awards, Priyanka was spotted with bodyguards. Speaking to Variety, she said, “I am okay with being approached by anyone and taking photos, and they (the guards) know that I love people coming to talk to me. They are there to make sure we’re not being recorded without consent.” She further added, “That’s my biggest issue with everyone having cellphones. It happens often, especially with my daughter. We’re in the park or having ice cream, and suddenly I’ll see it online. My security is for that reason. Otherwise, I don’t need it. Nobody’s gonna kill me.” Priyanka's daughter turned four last month.  Priyanka on marriage with Nick In the same interview, Chopra addressed the gossip surrounding her relationship with husband Nick Jonas and said, “We’re eight years in. If people want to keep waiting for it to implode, that’s their choice. I stopped thinking about it. I don’t know what it was about us that rubbed people the wrong way. I think there was the intercultural nature of it — different countries, different religions, and the age gap. It was very hurtful. And we both, instead of looking outward, just looked at each other and were like, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ So it’s like water off a duck’s back now.” Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming projects Workwise, Priyanka will be seen in filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is set to release on April 7, 2027, marking her Telugu film debut. She also has Season 2 of Citadel in the pipeline. Wheel of Fortune: Bhavana Pandey reveals an annoying habit of Chunky Panday

Bhavana Pandey, the wife of actor Chunky Panday, has shared one annoying habit of her husband. In the latest episode of the reality game show Wheel of Fortune, host Akshay Kumar playfully put the Bollywood wives on the spot with some tricky questions about their husbands. Akshay asked Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, and Bhavana Pandey to share one good quality about their respective husbands. A slightly confused Neelam began by saying, “Bahut hi kind, insaan hai (He is a very kind person)”, prompting Maheep to jokingly react, “Bahut hi mushkil sawaal poochha hai (You have asked a very difficult question)”. Maheep added, “Devta hai, devta.” Bhavana then lightened the moment further by mentioning the three most important women in her husband’s life, Bhavana, Ananya, and Rysa, joking that they often secretly take money from his wallet. The remark left the audience and Akshay Kumar laughing. Akshay then gave the wives 15 seconds to reveal one bad habit of their husbands. Neelam shared that whenever she asks Sameer, “Babe, please, will you do this work?” he does not do it at that time and ends up doing it a week later. Maheep candidly said, “Wo sunta hi nahi hai, bilkul nahi sunta (He doesn't listen at all, not even a bit)”, while Bhavana humorously complained that her husband always leaves his wet towel on her side of the bed. Following this, Akshay humorously remarked, “Jab maine inhe achchi baat batane ko kaha, toh itna time lag gaya. Aur jab buri baat batani thi, toh pandrah seconds khatam hone se pehle hi sab bata diya (When I asked them to tell me the good news, it took so long. And when it was time to tell the bad news, they told everything before the fifteen seconds were up)”. Wheel Of Fortune is available on Sony Entertainment Television & Sony LIV. Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh threat probe: Culprit associated with Bishnoi gang

The Mumbai Crime Branch has traced the sender of a threatening WhatsApp voice note demanding Rs 1 crore from Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, identifying it as reportedly belonging to Harry Boxer, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, officials said. As per the Mumbai Police, the Crime Branch revealed that one of the close associates of the gang, Harry Boxer, reportedly sent a voice note to the actor demanding Rs 1 crore as extortion. The WhatsApp voice note has been identified as carrying Harry Boxer’s voice, according to the preliminary investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch. However, officials are still working on additional evidence in connection with the case. The voice note has been sent for forensic examination, and the report is currently awaited. According to the Crime Branch, the threatening voice note was sent to Ranveer’s manager’s mobile number after the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence. In the message, money was demanded while issuing threats. Following the threat, Ranveer’s security has been heightened. The statement of Ranveer’s manager was recorded by the Crime Branch three days ago. The investigation continues. A VPN network was used to send the threat, and the location traced so far points to a foreign country. Interpol’s assistance is being sought to track the source. Officials are trying to determine which country’s VPN network was active at the time the threat was sent. Apart from Ranveer, the Crime Branch also recorded the statement of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s brother-in-law and actor Aayush Sharma’s manager. Investigations in both cases are ongoing, and a formal FIR is expected to be registered soon. On the professional front, Ranveer will soon be seen in the sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar. Titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the film is slated to release on March 19. Dhurandhar also stars R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. Serving as the first instalment of a two-part film series, it centres on a high-stakes covert counter-terrorism operation. The film follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's criminal syndicates and political power structures in Pakistan in an effort to dismantle a terror network targeting India. The film's storyline draws loose inspiration from multiple real-life geopolitical events and conflicts in South Asia, including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and developments linked to Pakistan's Operation Lyari. Dhurandhar 2 resumes with Hamza Ali Mazhari, an Indian undercover agent who has successfully infiltrated Pakistan’s underworld. After taking down Rehman Dakait, Hamza ascends the ranks of power, only to face his most formidable adversary yet, Major Iqbal, the ISI mastermind known as Bade Sahab. Rajpal Yadav

Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case: Lawyer shares details of amount paid

Actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his comic roles in many Bollywood films, is embroiled in a prolonged legal battle over a cheque bounce and debt dispute that has now resulted in his incarceration at Tihar Jail. The matter stems from a loan of Rs 5 crore that Yadav had taken to fund his 2010 directorial project Ata Pata Laapata. The film’s failure at the box office triggered financial strain, and over the years unpaid dues, interest and penalties have pushed the case value to around Rs 9 crore. Rajpal Yadav's lawyer reveals details Yadav’s lawyer, Bhaskar Upadhyay, informed the media that the actor has already paid Rs 2.5 crore which is half of the original loan amount, toward this debt and remains willing to deposit more. This partial payment comprises funds previously deposited with the court registry as well as additional amounts brought forward by Yadav’s camp. Upadhyay explained that part of the delay in the Delhi High Court’s ongoing bail proceedings was due to the opposing party’s lack of response to their application, leading the bench to adjourn the hearing to February 16 to allow further clarification. During the latest hearing, the bench reiterated its frustration that Yadav had repeatedly assured compliance with payment commitments on numerous occasions but had failed to honour those undertakings. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma observed that Yadav’s imprisonment was a direct result of his own conduct, repeatedly promising repayment without fulfilling those promises, rather than merely the court’s orders. All about the case Yadav surrendered to custodial authorities in early February after the High Court rejected his request for additional time to clear the outstanding amount and directed him to report to prison authorities by the specified deadline. His lawyers have argued that imprisonment over financial matters should not be solely based on undertakings, and they have sought to meet him in jail to obtain further instructions regarding the settlement of the remaining debt. Amid these developments, several peers from the film industry have publicly offered support for Yadav, both financially and morally, as he navigates this challenging phase. The next key date in the case will be the February 16 hearing, where the court will reassess the status of payments and the possibility of interim relief.

Amitabh Bachchan reflects on the idea of owning 'excess'

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared a contemplative note on the idea of excess and the lingering imprint of one’s early years, saying that the joy of limited means can never truly be replaced by abundance acquired later in life. Taking to his blog, the icon reflected on how one’s upbringing and the years of growing up with less remain etched in memory, regardless of present success or prosperity. “Where you grew up from, shall ever remain with you .. what you progressed from, shall ever remain with you .. elements of the past growing years can never be forgotten, and equating them with present times is a misnomer (sic),” Big B wrote. “If you have lived with less .. excess now strikes an unbalanced balance .. you know what was then .. and to be surrounded now by the now, shall never allow you to be in comfort .. not the comfort of living style .. but the comfort of the less ..(sic)” added the octogenarian. The 81-year-old icon expressed that those who have lived with limited resources often find that excess in later years brings with it a certain imbalance. “When you have just one .. having many now, in time, gives unpleasantness or a distance that creates disturbance .. comparing the two worlds shall ever produce this dichotomy (sic).” Sharing an example, the thespian said that the happiness of owning just one new pair of shoes in earlier days can never be matched by possessing countless pairs now. “The utmost joy of that new pair of shoes, then, can never be balanced by the countless you may possess now… possession of something that was not affordable then, may give joy .. but it shall ever remain temporary .. how much excess will you carry till the end. (sic).” On February 10, the icon noted that while it may be early for his blog, responsibilities demanded a change in routine. “It is rather early for the Blog... but some meetings have been set for an early morning hence this timing,” he wrote in the blog. Reflecting on his professional journey, the thespian expressed that his efforts are gradually bearing fruit, adding that being engaged in meaningful work is essential. He also underscored the importance of staying engaged. “Work efforts slowly fructifying and hope that one can be occupied in the time of work .. it is essential .. absence of work has detrimental feelings, and so work work work .. till you can ..More later,” he concluded the post.
