Vijay Sethupathi denies starring in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is one of the most anticipated projects. The magnum opus has been making it to the headlines because of its cast and scale. Recently, Vikrant Massey shut down reports claiming he was to play the role of Meghanad in the film. And now, Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi has revealed that he is not a part of the film. Earlier reports suggested that the Farzi actor plays the role of Vibhishana in Ramayana. Vijay Sethupathi denies being a part of Ramayana According to Bollywood Hungama, Vijay Sethupathi dismissed the rumours while talking to senior journalist Subhash K Jha. Vijay said, “No, sir. I am not a part of this project. No clue where this is coming from.” Earlier reports emerged suggesting Raghav Juyal had been roped in to play the role of Meghanad in the film, replacing Vikrant Massey, who was initially playoing the role. On Sunday, Vikrant took to social media to clarify, saying, "Ok. To put the rumours to rest. I never was a part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan. The many media portals reporting about my supposed 'replacement' should've done the requisite background check. Disappointing. Nonetheless, wishing everyone a part of the movie all the very best. Love (sic)." About Ramayana While the lead cast of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana is confirmed, other actors who are confirmed to be a part of Ramayana are Sunny Deol (Hanuman), Ravi Dubey (Laxman), Arun Govil (Dashrath), Lara Dutta (Kaikeyi), Indira Krishnan (Kausalya), and Kunal Kapoor (Indra). Meanwhile, there are even reports of Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohit Raina, Adinath Kothare, and many other actors also being a part of the film. However, these have not been confirmed yet.  Ramayana will be released in two parts. Ramayana Part 1 is set to hit the big screens on Diwali this year. Last year, the makers had shared a glimpse of the film. If recent reports are to be believed, the makers could unveil a teaser of the film on Rama Navami March 27, this year. On the other hand, Ramayana Part 2 will release on Diwali 2027.

Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta

Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta's Lahore 1947 locks Independence Day for release

Actor Sunny Deol is currently enjoying the success of his Republic Day weekend release Border 2. The actor will also be seen on the big screen for the upcoming Independence Day weekend. The actor's next release titled Lahore 1947 will be released on August 13, 2026. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film has been directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.  The film brings together Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan for the first time.  Lahore 1947 locks Independence day release Announcing the release date of the film, producer Aamir Khan said, “This was one of the favourite scripts of Dharamji, and I am so glad he could see the film.”  Dharmendra passed away in November 2025. His last film Ikkis was released in theatres on January 1, 2026.  Starring Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preiti Zinta, and Karan Deol, with music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Lahore 1947 marks Sunny’s next project following his recent blockbuster successes. About Lahore 1947 Asghar Wajahat’s play, Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai, has long fascinated Rajkumar Santoshi. Finally, the director decided to make its screen adaptation, titled Lahore 1947. It’s not surprising that Santoshi has roped in his frequent collaborator Sunny Deol for the historical drama. While the two had a falling-out before the making of The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), they resolved their differences soon after. “I can only be upset with someone I have an equation with. The mutual admiration and respect has always remained,” said the director in an interview nearly three years ago. Wajahat’s famed play revolves around a family that moves to Lahore after the Partition. While Santoshi had taken the subject to Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in the past, he is glad that it is eventually materialising with his first choice. That’s not all — Sunny’s actor-son Karan Deol will also star in the period drama. “Karan plays Sunny’s son, and represents the next generation [in the narrative]. His character takes the story forward. When I went to narrate the film to Sunny, Karan was also there. He liked the subject and [his role].”

Ranveer Singh

Don 3: Ranveer Singh's exit may cost him Rs 40 crore! Here's why

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is reportedly caught in a major financial and legal standoff with production house Excel Entertainment after stepping away from the much-anticipated action film Don 3. Industry insiders suggest the disagreement has turned into a Rs 40 crore deadlock, with the studio allegedly seeking compensation for losses incurred during pre-production. Fallout due to Don 3 escalates into a financial dispute The conflict reportedly stems from Excel Entertainment’s significant investment in the early stages of the film, including scheduling, logistical planning, and hiring crew members. Sources claim the production house believes Singh’s sudden exit stalled the project and resulted in substantial financial damage that they should not have to bear alone. Ranveer Singh, however, is said to be pushing back strongly against the demand. According to reports, the actor does not believe he should be held financially responsible for stepping away from the film. Insiders indicate that Singh’s decision was driven by creative differences, particularly concerns regarding the script and the film’s direction. He reportedly maintains that the project had moved forward only after he initially approved it, making the current compensation claim unfair. A meeting between representatives of both parties was reportedly held to resolve the matter, but it ended without a breakthrough. With no immediate solution in sight, uncertainty now surrounds the future of Don 3. The production house is believed to have slowed down certain pre-production activities, with some teams allegedly advised to explore other opportunities until clarity emerges. All about the dispute The film was expected to be one of Excel Entertainment’s biggest ventures, generating significant buzz due to its scale and Ranveer Singh’s involvement. The ongoing stalemate has raised questions about whether the project will proceed with a new lead actor or face further delays. As neither side appears willing to compromise, the situation has become a talking point across the film industry. Trade experts note that disputes of this scale are rare and could potentially influence how contracts and exit clauses are handled in big-budget Bollywood projects moving forward. For now, all eyes remain on whether the disagreement will be settled through negotiation or escalate into a more formal legal confrontation.

Set in Ratlam, Bandwaale follows Mariam, a young poet who begins sharing her poetry online anonymously as she searches for independence and a sense of self. Her journey unfolds alongside Robo and DJ Psycho, her bandmates and closest companions from the same town, who bring music, humour, and companionship into her world. While Mariam expresses herself through poetry, Robo and DJ Psycho anchor the trio through their shared creative energy and belief in possibility. At its core, Bandwaale has a rich and diverse musical landscape that reflects the inner lives of its characters. The series features original compositions by Yashraj Mukhate, marking his first foray into composing music for a long-format series. The music shapes the emotional journey of the story, making it central to the narrative. With creators Ankur Tewari and Swanand Kirkire being musicians themselves, Bandwaale carries a strong musical sensibility, lending the dramedy a layered and immersive experience. Writers Ankur Tiwari and Swanand Kirkire on Bandwaale “Bandwaale is a story that grew from everyday observations about expression, hesitation, and the quiet courage it takes to be yourself,” said Swanand Kirkire, actor, co-creator, and co-writer. "Mariam’s journey reflects how creativity, friendship, and music can offer strength in moments of doubt. Writing this series allowed us to explore how small choices slowly shape confidence and identity. The story is intimate in scale, yet universal in emotion, and I look forward to audiences discovering Mariam’s journey when the series premieres.” “From the very beginning, our intention with Bandwaale was to tell a grounded story that feels honest and familiar” said Ankur Tewari, co-writer, co-creator, and co-director. “Working closely with Swanand Kirkire and our amazing team, we wanted to stay true to Mariam’s world, her questions, her conflicts, and the way her poetry shapes her self-discovery. Prime Video’s creative trust allowed us to stay true to the tone of the story, and I’m excited for audiences to experience this warm, heartfelt series.”

Amitabh Bachchan and Samir Soni in Baghban

Internet calls Amitabh Bachchan real villain of Baghban, actor Samir Soni reacts

The 2003 family drama Baghban, directed by Ravi Chopra, has long been a part of pop culture discussions. For years, the Hema Malini–Amitabh Bachchan starrer has been considered a benchmark film depicting the struggles of ageing parents and how they are overlooked by their children. The film portrays the hardships of an elderly retired couple who are seen as a burden by their four sons. Bachchan’s climactic monologue, aimed at an ungrateful generation, struck an emotional chord with audiences and became iconic. However, perspectives around the film are now changing, with viewers revisiting it through a more critical lens. The Baghban perspective changes Recently, actor Samir Soni shared a viral Instagram reel in which a Gen-Z content creator calls out Baghban for what she terms “boomer propaganda.” Soni played Sanjay Malhotra, the second son of Raj (Amitabh Bachchan) and Pooja Malhotra (Hema Malini). Picking scenes featuring Raj Malhotra and his son Sanjay, the influencer argues that Sanjay only made logical demands and reasonable expectations from his father. The Gen-Z influencer praised Sanjay’s character for being punctual and receptive to his wife’s concerns. “He’s also an intellectual because he asks his father why he doesn’t have any FDs, gratuity or savings. But then a very emotional song plays in the background and the son is turned into a villain. Bro, your son is right. Why do you not have savings? It’s not like you worked at a bad place. You worked at a very reputed bank,” she argued. In another instance, the influencer highlights the typewriter scene, where Sanjay’s wife requests him to ask his father not to use the machine late at night, as the noise disturbs her sleep. She is a working woman who has to wake up early for her job. Sanjay politely suggests that his father use the typewriter in his own room or keep it for the morning, also recommending a laptop instead. However, Raj Malhotra takes offence, and emotional background music plays to villainise the son and his wife. The third argument centres around the Karva Chauth scene, where Sanjay’s wife suggests going out for dinner after fasting the entire day. She assumes her father-in-law will eat at the café he regularly visits. However, Raj Malhotra chooses to skip dinner at the café despite the owner's insistence, and returns home to no food — again portrayed as an emotional slight against him. Sharing the reel on his Instagram feed, Samir Soni reacted with humour and wrote in the caption, “Finally some redemption after 20 years. Just love the new generation.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Samir Soni (@samirsoni123) The film also had a special appearance by Salman Khan, as the adopted son of Amitabh and Hema and the one who cares for them the way they would like.

The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond Poster

The Kerala Story 2: Shreya Ghoshal's O Maayi Ri pays tribute to a mother's love

The teaser of The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond made a sharp and intense progression from the first installment. Helmed by National Award–winning director Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film unfolds the disturbing journey of three Hindu girls, played by Ulka Gupta, Aishwarya Ojha, and Aditi Bhatia, whose lives spiral into darkness after they enter relationships with three Muslim men. What begins as love gradually exposes a chilling, orchestrated plot centered around religious conversion. While the excitement for the film is constantly rising at a fever pitch, an immensely emotional O Maayi Ri song has been released.  O Maayi Ri out A deeply moving ode to the timeless bond between a mother and her child, O Maayi Ri has been unveiled. Rendered with pure emotion by Shreya Ghoshal, the song is beautifully woven together by Mannan Shaah’s soul-touching composition and Manoj Muntashir’s heartfelt lyrics. It encapsulates the warmth, protection, and unconditional love that live on in every heartbeat, a melody that lingers long after it ends, embracing you like a gentle hug in moments of quiet reflection.  Moreover, O Maayi Ri is yet another magical creation of Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Shreya Ghosh. Their previous films are Force (2011) Main Chali, Action Replayy, O Bekhabar, and Tera Mera Pyaar.  Echoing through the teaser is the slogan that defines the film’s soul and spirit: “Ab Sahenge Nahi… Ladenge!” Following the massive impact of The Kerala Story, which shook audiences nationwide with its bold narrative, the sequel promises to push boundaries even further, going beyond comfort, beyond silence. Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, The Kerala Story 2- Goes Beyond is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, co-produced by Aashin A Shah under the banner Sunshine Pictures. The film is slated to release in cinemas on 27th February, 2026. The Kerala Story controversy The film highlighted forced conversions of women in Kerala and how they are recruited by ISIS. The film claimed that as many as 32000 women were victims of forced conversion to Islam, and many were taken to ISIS-ruled Syria.  The film landed in a legal soup after the release of the trailer. A petition was filed at the Supreme Court seeking a stay on its release on ground of "worst kind of hate speech" and "audio-visual propaganda". However, the Supreme Court refused to take up the matter, saying, "There are varieties of hate speeches. This film has got certification and has been cleared by the board." Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also slammed the makers in a series of tweets, accusing them of making false claims and portraying the state of Kerala in a bad light.  Activists and lawyers announced rewards to those who could prove the allegations made in the film. Kerala State Committee of Muslim Youth League has announced a reward of Rs 1 crore for anyone who proves the allegations levelled in the film, and said collection centres for providing the proof will be opened in every district, reported ANI. "Prove the allegations that 32,000 Keralites converted and fled to Syria. Take up the challenge and submit the evidence," the poster by the committee read.

Konkona Sen Sharma & Pratibha Ranta interrogate truth and power in Accused

What happens when belief becomes a choice, and standing by someone comes at a personal cost?  Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, Accused brings to the screen a layered, emotionally charged story that interrogates truth, power, and trust in the face of accusation. The film premieres on Netflix on 27 February. About Accused Produced by Dharma Productions, Accused follows a celebrated doctor in London whose carefully constructed life begins to fracture after she is accused of sexual misconduct. As scrutiny intensifies and public opinion hardens, the film explores the strains this places on her closest relationships, and how quickly perception can take hold when certainty is out of reach. By centring on a woman as the accused, Accused asks viewers to sit with discomfort and doubt, unfolding as a story of one woman’s word against another. Netflix unveiled two posters of Accused on its official Instagram account, with the caption: "Dr. Geetika's toughest case yet. A reputed surgeon sees her reputation at stake."           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Netflix India (@netflix_in) 'A narrative where power, perception, and belief are shifting' Talking about the film, Team Accused shared, “Accused is the kind of story that stays with you because it refuses to simplify human behaviour or moral conflict. Anubhuti has crafted a deeply nuanced film that places women at the centre of a narrative we rarely explore,  one where power, perception, and belief are constantly shifting. With Konkona and Pratibha leading the film, we’re looking at a relationship tested not just by accusation, but by doubt itself. It’s a story told with restraint, empathy, and courage, and we’re proud to bring it to Netflix, a platform that has supported the film’s intent to provoke thought rather than judgment.” Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director, Original Films, Netflix India, shared, “Accused is a meaningful, emotionally resonant film that explores truth, belief, and the personal consequences of an accusation. Anubhuti Kashyap’s sensitivity and restraint add depth to a powerful subject. With standout performances from Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, the film embodies the kind of layered, character-driven storytelling Netflix stands behind.”  With its nuanced storytelling from writers Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, restrained tension, and deeply felt performances, Accused offers a compelling exploration of trust under pressure and the emotional cost of choosing sides when certainty is absent. The film invites audiences to confront uncomfortable questions about belief, loyalty, and the fragile line between truth and perception.  Accused streams exclusively on Netflix from 27 February
