Jill of all trades
Life sometimes has other plans for you when you're trying to do your own thing. I started modelling when I was in college but I stumbled upon acting when I was living in the UK from 1991 to 1997. I even managed to play the lead role in a French film. Then I started doing theatre in the UK. It was there that I sang for albums by artists like Talvin Singh etc and appeared in videos for Bally Sagoo, Apache Indian, Oasis etc. When I came back to India in 1997, I branched out into veejaying , TV and then films. Engineering took a back seat, but I have no regrets about that. I can still change a fuse on a set if need be (laughs).

I'm not a complete novice when it comes to music. I trained in Carnatic vocals when I was in my teens and have been singing English jazz and classical since I was about seven. I find it easy to sing in Hindi too since I'm comfortable with the language. I like penning my own lyrics. Though I don't read or write music, I would like to believe that I have a ear for it. So I usually have a lot of tunes in my head, but I don't know how to put them down. I hope to change that asap. I'm a total romantic at heart, which is why I end up listening to a lot of love ballads and singing them.
