Most filmmakers are steering clear of releasing their productions, especially big budgeted movies, in March and April as it coincides with the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. These months also spell examination time when the student community gives theatres a miss.
But there are some exceptions (read: brave souls) that are willing to bear the odds and face the consequences.u00a0
Kumar Taurani is releasing his Vivek Oberoi-starrer Prince on March 26. The IPL action unfolds from March 12 to April 25. The producer feels that two weeks later into the matches things settle down only to hot up again towards the finals in April end. As a result, he has finalised on March 26 to release Prince.
Says Taurani, "I have decided on the date but have not frozen it. Many people are putting off their releases because of the IPL. It is an auspicious date so I selected it. In the coming weeks, I will be taking a call again."
Directed by Kookie Gulati, the action thriller also includes Nandana Sen, Neeru Singh and Aruna Shields.
Adds Taurani, "I have been told to postpone the release of Prince till after the IPL. People are advising me on it. I will take stock of the situation soon."
