Actor Faissal Khan said last year that his family had once placed him under house arrest and accused actor and brother Aamir Khan of abusing his influence and authority to undermine him. Aamir has now addressed the dispute, stating that he would not fight with members of his own family.
Aamir discussed his ongoing conflict with his brother Faissal Khan, with whom he appeared in the movie Mela alongside Twinkle Khanna, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. On January 7, 2000, Mela was released.

The actor responded, "Kya karein?," when asked about Faissal's accusations that Aamir had committed numerous crimes, such as unlawful detention and career sabotage. (What should I do?) "I'm destined for that. How can you fight your own family when you can battle the entire world?"
Aamir then went on to share about Mela's failure at box office, "I was obviously disappointed by its failure to achieve its potential. Beyond that, I think it’s tough to answer your question. First of all, let me tell you, every film I do means a lot to me. The failure of Mela definitely made a difference to me. It was hard on Faissal, but it was hard on me as well. I’m not comfortable with the idea of any of my films not realising their full potential. The entire team had worked very hard. We were all disappointed."
Tensions between Aamir and Faissal surfaced last year when Faissal said that he had cut all connections with the family. He has claimed that when Aamir was still married to his first wife, Reena Dutta, he had an affair with Jessica Hines, a journalist in the UK, and even fathered a child with her.
Faissal accused Aamir while talking to Hindustan Times of meticulously creating a public character that, in his opinion, is far different from reality. "He is attempting to project a clean image for the public, but his numerous connections with women and other things reveal his true nature. He likes to present a false impression of himself, he claimed.
Faissal Khan's allegations against his family
Aamir Khan's family issued a public statement last year in response to Faissal's comments, expressing sadness at what they call "hurtful and misleading" depictions of family members, including Aamir, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain.
A part of his statement mentioned, "It is important to share that every choice regarding Faissal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family."
