Agastya Nanda opens up on Bachchan–Kapoor legacy pressure: 'I carry very heavily on me'

Agastya Nanda with family

Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda recently made his big-screen debut with Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis. Just like every other star kid, his journey has also been under scrutiny. However, Agastya does not take the pressure of carrying forward the Bachchan–Kapoor legacy. The young actor explained that before being Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, he is the son of his father, and currently, he is focusing on making him proud.

Agastya Nanda on pressure of legacy

In a video shared by IMDb on its YouTube channel, Ikkis director Sriram Raghavan asked Agastya if being from families of “legends” puts pressure on him. Reacting to it, he answered, “I don’t take that pressure in the slightest because I know that’s not my legacy to own. I think my surname is Nanda because I’m my father’s son first. I focus on making him proud, and that’s a legacy I carry very heavily on me. My other family members who are actors—I admire their work, I love their work. But I don’t think I can ever be them. So, it’s not even worth spending time trying to think of it.”

More about Ikkis

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis is a war biopic based on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Dev. It was released on January 1, 2026. The war drama has collected a total of Rs 21.50 crore in five days.

Agastya Nanda called playing Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, in his debut movie Ikkis his most special character. As Agastya himself is not on social media, his sister, Navya Nanda, dropped a short and sweet gratitude note on his behalf on her Instagram, saying, “This was, is, and always will be the most special character I got to play. Thank you, Arun Khetarpal…. Love, Agastya. (sic)”
