Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni

Suresh Triveni recalls Subedaar actor Anil Kapoor's impact on his childhood

After winning hearts with nuanced, character-driven stories like Tumhari Sulu and Jalsa, filmmaker Suresh Triveni is stepping into deeply emotional territory with Subedaar. The director recently revealed that the film carries profound personal significance for him, describing it as a tribute to the star who shaped his cinematic sensibilities — the film’s lead, Anil Kapoor. Suresh Triveni on working with Anil Kapoor Sharing a personal anecdote, Triveni said, “I’m a boy from Ranchi, and there was a whole Munna phase after Tezaab released. I clearly remember flaunting the Laadla orange shirt as a kid. For a small-town boy to imagine that he would one day direct his matinee idol is nothing short of a miracle.” Subedaar is deeply personal for the filmmaker. Looking back, Triveni admits the journey that followed is one he wouldn’t trade for anything. What started as a spontaneous idea evolved into a deeply personal commitment — a film driven by emotion, conviction, and what he calls his own “stubbornness.” “This medium is about conviction. Once I shared this idea with Vikram Malhotra, he backed it instantly and called Anil Kapoor. What amazed me even more was the trust Anil Kapoor showed in me without flinching for a moment,” he said. About Subedaar A gritty and emotionally charged action-drama, Subedaar follows Subedaar Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier whose quiet civilian life is disrupted by a reckless act. Forced to step back into a world of chaos, he must confront crime, corruption, and moral conflict to protect his family and reclaim his honour. Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor, and Triveni. The movie also stars Radhikka Madan alongside Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Faisal Malik, Mona Singh, and Khushboo Sundar in pivotal roles. The movie has been receiving praise for its powerful performances and immersive cinematic experience. Subedaar premiered exclusively on Prime Video on March 5 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. Beyond this, Triveni is also gearing up for Maa Behen, part of an upcoming slate on Netflix, starring Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimrii.

Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram granted anticipatory bail in sexual assault case

Earlier this month, a case was filed against Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram S. Poduval for allegedly sexually assaulting an actress. A case was registered against the Manjummel Boys director by the Kochi City Police. Reportedly, the complaint was filed by an actress over an incident that allegedly occurred in 2022.  Chidambaram gets bail After the case was filed, Chidambaram S. Poduval applied for anticipatory bail. He was granted anticipatory bail by the Ernakulam Sessions Court in the sexual assault case filed by the actress. The order was issued by Sessions Judge KK Balakrishnan after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence days after the case was registered in Kochi.  Chidambaram booked in sexual assault case According to the police complaint filed in early March, the alleged incident took place in 2022 at an apartment in Kochi. The director, as said by the complainant, allegedly trespassed into her residential premises and harassed her. Chidambaram has been booked under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to assault or criminal force used on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty. Police noted that the case falls under IPC provisions as the alleged incident occurred in 2022, before the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) came into force. The matter is currently under investigation, and further action will be taken after examining relevant details and recording statements. Police officials added that a notice will be issued asking the filmmaker to appear for questioning. The filmmaker has not yet made any public comment on the allegations. Not the first allegation against Chidambaram In 2024, social media influencer and actress Prapti Elizabeth had accused the filmmaker of inappropriate behaviour. She alleged that the incident occurred when she was shooting for his film Jan.E.Man, which marked Chidambaram’s directorial debut. She made the allegations in the comments section of a post on Instagram related to the film. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sohum Shah and Shaune Harrison

Tumbbad 2 prosthetic designer Shaune Harrison drops hints about the characters

Acclaimed prosthetics designer Shaune Harrison popularly known to have worked on Harry Potter's Lord Voldemort and Mad Eye Moody, Hugo Weaving's Red Skull from Captain America: The First Avenger as well as numerous characters for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, has opened up about the meticulous makeup process behind one of the central characters in the sequel of the cult horror film Tumbbad, Tumbbad 2, revealing how the character undergoes three distinct physical transformations created through complex prosthetic work. Shaune Harrison on designing prosthetics for Tumbbad 2 Speaking about the process, Harrison shared that the team had to carefully design multiple prosthetic pieces to maintain visual continuity throughout the shoot. “I mean, there is one main character that we're doing, for which we go through three different looks. And they're quite extensive makeups. So what the interesting side of that is, obviously, we'll have double makeups as well, because we always want to make sure, you know, with any film you do, you'll have a stunt double and the acting double. So you have to make multiples of makeups because whenever you do a makeup on an actor, it's only ever used once. So if the actor's in it for 30 days, we have to make 30 exact pieces. But you have all the moulds. So, as you can see moulds around here, we inject silicone into the moulds. So it's like a factory line. You produce the same thing over and over and over again. So fingers crossed the audience don't realise that it's a completely different time. We shot it, but it looks exactly the same. And for us, we always love doing new things.” He further emphasised that preparation and testing are key to ensuring that prosthetic work does not slow down the filming process. “You know, every script comes in, it's different. And you read and you go, okay, we can do this three different ways. So, you always try and do it the way that is going to be the easiest on set. You know, you don't want to hold up the crew, the director and the producer. So you always want to make sure things run smoothly. So whenever you're doing tests and stuff, that's what you sort out beforehand. Tests are the really important part of it. Because, you know, if it doesn't work, we'll rechange it.” About Tumbbad 2 Tumbbad 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cinematic events in the making. The makers recently announced Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s entry into the Tumbbad universe.  Tumbbad 2, spearheaded by actor-producer Sohum Shah under Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios, led by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The studio has built a strong industry footprint across production, presentation, and global distribution, with credits spanning over 3,000 films, including Kahaani and Gangubai Kathiawadi, presenting the global blockbuster RRR, and distributing major commercial successes such as Jawan, Stree 2, and Chhaava.

Dhurandhar The Revenge

Dhurandhar The Revenge revives Ari Ari, early 2000s pop song by Bombay Rockers

The most-awaited trailer of Dhurandhar The Revenge has finally been released, and it has created massive excitement among fans. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the spy action thriller instalment raises the stakes with intense action and a gripping revenge story. In addition to the powerful visuals and compelling performances, the trailer’s background score ‘Ari Ari’ is receiving special attention on social media. Bombay Rockers' track Ari Ari remixed The revived and remixed version of Ari Ari is composed, arranged and programmed by Shashwat Sachdev with pumped-up vocals by Navtej Singh Rehal (Bombay Rockers), Khan Saab, Jasmine Sandlas and Sudhir Yaduvanshi. The track’s catchy rap is performed and written by Reble and the American rapper and singer, Token. With lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil and Bombay Rockers, and score produced by Adam Lucas, Ari Ari adds to the fever-pitch of Dhurandhar The Revenge’s high-intensity action.  Not many know that the original Ari Ari was created by the Danish-Indian music duo Bombay Rockers and was released around 2007 as part of their debut album Introducing. The track features a unique mix of Punjabi folk music and modern beats, and was inspired by the traditional Punjabi folk tune Baari Barsi, which was tuned with hip-hop style rhythms. This refreshing combination made the song a standout during the early-2000s Punjabi-pop era. Now, roughly two decades later, the viral track has been brought back in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar The Revenge trailer. This remixed version carries the spirit of the original song, but elevates it with modern production and rap elements - and that is exactly why it fits with the high-intensity action of the film. About Dhurandhar The Revenge The trailer showcases a formidable Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who returns with ferocious intensity in dual avatars. The narrative explores powerful character arcs, featuring R. Madhavan as the strategic mastermind Ajay Sanyal, Arjun Rampal in his chilling turn as ISI Major Iqbal, and Sanjay Dutt delivering raw, commanding force as SP Chaudhary Aslam. Jio Studios presents a B62 Studios production, an Aditya Dhar Film - Dhurandhar The Revenge, which will release in five languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Dhurandhar star Sara Arjun's father clarifies she is not on X

Actress Sara Arjun gave a stunning performance in Aditya Dhar's box office magnum Dhurandhar. She will return for the film's sequel, scheduled for release on March 19, 2026. Until a few days back, Dhurandhar: The Revenge was set to clash with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups at the box office. However, the makers of Yash-starrer postponed the film's release citing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. They pushed the release of the film to June 4, 2026. However, fans were seen pitting both films against each other on social media. Amid this, an account attributed to Sara Arjun was seen taking a dig at Toxic. After the post went viral, Sara's father actor Raj Arjun, clarified she is not on X.  Raj Arjun issues clarification on Sara's social media presence Raj Arjun took to his Instagram handle and issued a stern clarification regarding a viral post that appeared to mock the rescheduled release of Yash’s Toxic. The fake post, which used the tagline "No toxicity, only Dhurandhar," sparked an online debate just days before the trailer release of Ranveer Singh’s action epic, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge.' Raj clarified that his 20-year-old daughter does not have an account on X and is only present on Instagram. He also emphasized that Sara would never defame or demean another film to praise her own film.  A statement on social media read, "Hi everyone, a fake account is circulating a post in Sara's name saying, 'No toxicity, only Dhurandhar.' For clarity - Sara is not on Twitter - and she would never write something like this." The post further read, "We belong to the same film industry, which is like one big family for us. Sara has been brought to respect every artist and every film. She would be the last person to promote her work by speaking negatively about anyone." The statement further read, "Sara is only on Instagram. Any other account anywhere else in her name is FAKE. Please don't believe or spread such posts—a concerned father." Sara Arjun has not signed any films  In recent days, there have been reports doing the rounds that Sara Arjun has signed Imtiaz Ali's next film. Vijay with Trisha; Vikram Bhatt

Vikram Bhatt defends Vijay and Trisha amid dating rumours

Director Vikram Bhatt, who was recently granted regular bail in February, has now taken to social media to share his opinion on rumours about Vijay and Trisha's alleged affair. Vikram was in prison in connection with an alleged multi-crore cheating case involving his wife, Shwetambari Soni. Vikram Bhatt Defends Vijay and Trisha He penned a long note on his Instagram handle supporting Vijay and Trisha, saying he is unaware whether the rumours are true or not. However, he admitted he has been on both sides of such situations, having been somebody’s fool and also having fooled someone. Vikram added that the human heart is fallible and goes where it finds happiness. His note read, "There has been a great deal of noise about the personal lives of Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. I do not know whether the rumours online are true or not. But if they are, then I feel compelled to say a few things." He went on to add, "My recent incarceration has made me understand the value of freedom. What it is to crave a cup of tea that is not going to come. What is it to hunt for a tube of toothpaste? What it is to wait for seven in the evening, when the bail applications come in. But there is a worse incarceration. It is the incarceration of the human soul. The incarceration of happiness. When two people remain trapped in a relationship that has run its course, but society insists that the relationship must continue; that too is a prison." The Raaz director continued, "I have been on both sides of that equation. I have been somebody’s fool, and I have been fooled. In other words, I have been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt. The human heart is fallible. It goes where it finds happiness. It came together to find happiness and its going away to find happiness. Speaking for myself, I would walk out of a loveless relationship. I might walk out with money. I might walk out with property. But most importantly, I would walk out with my honour and my dignity." Talking of Vijay and Trisha, he added, "I find something admirable in Vijay and Trisha. There is dignity in not pretending that something does not exist. There is dignity in not hiding love as though it were something sinful. We all know the other kind of life that people live. Men who run anonymous profiles on dating sites. Men who delete their messages before they get home. Men who spend afternoons with women they will never respect enough to acknowledge publicly. And yet it is often these very people who sit in judgment over others." "Individually, most of us are compassionate people. We understand weakness. We understand heartbreak. We understand the complicated nature of love. But something changes when we become a collective. In a crowd, we suddenly become sinless. We become righteous. We become judges. And that is when empathy disappears," he wrote. Finally, he concluded his note with a strong message that read, "Their films belong to us. Their personal lives do not. I will always stand for the freedom of the human heart. They have a right to live and to love." Vijay and Trisha's appearance For the unversed, Vijay and Trisha recently attended producer Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh's son's wedding reception in Chennai on March 5 together. Their joint appearance came amid Vijay's divorce proceedings with his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, who has also accused the actor of having an extramarital relationship with an actress in her petition. Meanwhile, rumours suggesting Trisha and Vijay are having an affair, given their alleged closeness, have been rife for years. Neither Trisha nor Vijay has commented on the ongoing chatter about their relationship.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Aankhen poster

Vipul Amrutlal Shah on what pushed him to become a producer after Aankhen

Filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah recently made a candid appearance at The Comedy Factory’s Lavari show, where he opened up about the making of his 2002 thriller Aankhen and revealed that the film actually had two different endings. The conversation took a humorous turn when host Chirayu Mistry admitted he had watched the alternate ending through a pirated copy on YouTube, prompting Shah to joke that he might have to take action against the piracy of his own film. Vipul Shah talks about the two conclusions in Aankhen Speaking about the alternate conclusions, Shah explained, “In one, Ilias dies. The second one was the planned where the diamonds and jewelry looted by those people were hidden in the harmonium. After Ilias dies, those two accidentally get it.” He went on to describe the second version, which was released overseas. “The other ending, which we released overseas, was that those two guys, Akshay and Arjun Rampal says, ‘People are leaving, Amitji comes out of jail and is standing at the railway station. They’re watching him, and Akshay says, ‘I have a feeling he’s here.’ Amitji says, ‘Dangerous Game is about to begin,’ and that’s where the film ends.’” According to Shah, this cliffhanger was intentional. “So, that was the plan back then, to make a sequel. That’s why it ended on a cliffhanger. Then my producer was so talented, the sequel was almost ready, but I forgot everything and promised myself I wouldn’t make a sequel. So yeah, from then on, I swore I’d become the producer myself.” Why he became a producer? The director also reflected on why he eventually turned producer. “Actually, I was kinda forced into it. Becoming a producer was a big compulsion because, you know, I had my own vision,” he said. “I met almost all the big producers in the industry, and everyone wanted to work with me. The films were doing really well, but after meeting them, I used to have these horrible nightmares at night, thinking, ‘Oh my God, what kind of people are these?’” He added, “They were all so intense and tough. It felt like by the time you hit 30, you’d end up in the hospital. After meeting all these producers, we decided we weren’t going to do it. Then I thought, okay, I’ll just produce it myself. So, that’s when I started my own banner.” Shah’s revelations not only shed light on Aankhen’s alternate ending but also on the personal experiences that shaped his journey as a filmmaker and producer.
