Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding was postponed indefinitely following Smriti's father's ill health. The couple was all set to tie the knot in Sangli on November 23, 2025. However, the cricketer’s father, Srinivas Mandhana's reported hospitalisation postponed the ceremony. Following the incident, the wedding has taken several turns with numerous speculations. Now, due to the wedding postponement, Smriti’s best friend and colleague, Jemimah Rodrigues, has decided to withdraw from the remainder of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season to stay back to support the vice-captain of the Indian women's cricket team.

Suniel Shetty praises Jemimah Rodrigues

Suniel Shetty has reacted to cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues' decision to be by her friend’s side during the tough phase. Taking to X, Suniel shared a picture of a newspaper snippet of the news, and wrote, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”

Jemimah Rodrigues withdraws from WBBL

For the unversed, Jemimah Rodrigues had flown to India 10 days ago following Brisbane Heat's match against Hobart Hurricanes for a brief pre-arranged trip, and was scheduled to rejoin her WBBL side, Brisbane Heat, this week. But due to the unforeseen development, she requested a release.

The franchise issued a statement announcing they were releasing Jemimah for the season. The statement read, "The Brisbane Heat have agreed to a request to release Jemimah Rodrigues from the remainder of the Women's Big Bash League." It stated that Rodrigues "returned home to India" for Mandhana's wedding but stayed back after the event was "subsequently postponed due to a health issue with Mandhana's father."

Brisbane Heat stated that they fully supported Jemimah's decision, saying, "Rodrigues will stay in India to support her teammate, and the Heat has agreed to her not returning for the final four games of the WBBL season."

As per reports, Smriti’s father was rushed to a hospital after he experienced heart attack-like symptoms. A day after her father's hospitalisation, Palaash was also admitted due to stress-related distress. Amid this, unverified reports are alleging that Palaash cheated on Smriti amid the wedding festivities.
