Janhvi reminisced that when she was younger, her father Boney Kapoor made sure that his daughters experienced different parts of the world so that when they got married, they could say they had seen it all. She mentioned that her father's packed itenraries often caused her mother a lot of stress. Janhvi Kapoor recalls family vacation in Italy At the event, Janhvi Kapoor mentioned that her mother initially wanted to just unwind but ended up enjoying the trips a lot. She reminisced about a memorable journey to the Amalfi Coast, Italy, where her whole family, along with two staff members, traveled in a van, munching on theplas and paranthas. She also noted that her father always brings along Indian chillies when they travel because he loves their flavor. “It was us, this big Indian family and we had this van that could accommodate all of us. Us also includes our cook and Ramu, who technically is my Dad’s boy but I think that he is my Dad’s best friend and we had to travel with them because he doesn’t go anywhere without mangoes and chillies from India. Because chillies outside India arent that spicy apparently,” she recalled. Janhvi mentioned that in Italy, many roads were really narrow, making it difficult to navigate their van through them, “In the evenings, people would be out on the streets, playing music, having drinks but in comes this big black jeep blasting South Indian music and having theplas and paranthas in the van,” she remembered.  “That trip was very memorable.” she concluded. About her Chennai house Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor owns a palatial home in Chennai which is her childhood home. The house was bought by her late mother actress Sridevi. A couple of years ago, Janhvi had also given a detailed tour of the gorgeous home. Now, the home is available for public to live in. As a per a report by People, Airbnb has included the mansion in its list of 11 Icons properties that people can now rent out.  According to the report, Janhvi Kapoor is all set to open the doors of her Chennai home to select Airbnb users.  The one-night stay would also include conversations with Janhvi about her “favourite beauty hacks” and “tasting fresh, authentic South Indian food.” This is the most intimate access to the most famous family in Bollywood," said Brian Chesky, Airbnb CEO and co-founder, at the launch of ‘Icons. ’Other pop culture spots that are also on the list include the real-life house from Disney-Pixar's Up (2009) in Abiquiu, New Mexico, the X-Men mansion in New York's Westchester County, Kevin Hart's members-only Coramino Live Lounge, a personal Doja Cat concert, Prince's iconic Purple Rain house in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Inside Out headquarters.

Tarot movie review

Tarot movie review: Mediocre horror film fails to deliver thrills or chills

Film: TarotCast: Harriet Slater, Humberly González, Larsen Thompson, Avantika, Wolfgang Novogratz, Adain Bradley, and Jacob Batalon Directors: Spenser Cohen and Anna HalbergRating: 1.5/5Runtime: 92 min A standard issue genre film, this one relies on regular by-the-numbers tropes to score it’s kills. A group of friends rent a mansion in a remote location to spend a weekend. They are just six of them so why would they want to rent a huge mansion? Ridiculous, if you ask me. Never mind that. The lackluster script adapted from 1992 YA novel Horrorscope, written by Nicholas Adams (pseudonym) , fails to generate suspense or thrills. The uninspired execution is another big drawback. The group of college mates are having fun and they soon find themselves out of beer. When they raid the fridge they realise they are out of stock so next thing they do is break open the door to the cellar which clearly says ‘Keep Out - Danger.” That’s where they discover the Tarot cards and other antique paraphernalia. The fates of the college friends take a sinister turn following the ominous revelations of the mysterious tarot deck. The characters eventually find themselves ensnared in a web of predestined doom. The cast, which also includes breakout Indian actress Avantika and the SPIDER-MAN trilogy’s Jacob Batalon, find themselves in a bad movie soon-to-get-worse. They even have the temerity to ask each other, “Does anyone else think this is a bad idea?” It’s a conventional story arc, There’s no attempt made to give any of the characters a backstory or enough character traits to make them memorable. The dialogue is poorly written, the humor is obvious and unfunny, the characters show up as stupid, the horror tricks seem cheesy and the story is full of boring cliched, predictable twists. There’s neither innovation nor creativity holding fort here. The plotting is thin, there’s no self-referential humor and the elementary chills are way too obvious to be scary. The narrative relies on successive jump scares, there’s no sense of urgency nor is there any semblance of atmospheric dread to carry the experience through. This one is a rather feeble and forgettable horror experience.

A still from The Idea of You

'The Idea Of You' movie review

Film: The Idea Of You.Cast: Anne Hathaway, Nicholas Galitzine, Ella Rubin, Reid Scott, Annie Mumolo, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Mathilda GianopoulosDirected: Michael Showalter   Rating: 3/5Runtime: 115 min The latest romantic comedy from Michael Showalter (The Big Sick), is a generic meet-cute that is mushy and endearing. This film is based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name by Robinne Lee, and centers on 40-year-old single mom, someone who has little faith left in love, Solène (Anne Hathaway), who inadvertently falls in love with an emotionally cautious 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. Solène, who was looking forward to a solo camping trip, is forced to take her ex-husband Daniel’s (Reid Scott) place to chaperone her teenage daughter Izzy (Ella Rubin) to the Coachella Music Festival.  A chance encounter with Hayes, leads to more meetings and eventually love sets in with all its accompanied age-gap and fame-related complications. The whirlwind affair changes the Silver Lake mother’s life and, her relationship with her daughter also gets affected. So Solene is forced to line-up her own priorities while confronting vicious online vitriol of Hayes’ rabid fanbase. The narrative is studded with memorable romantic numbers wonderfully performed by the lead star Nicholas Galitzine. ‘So I’ll wait a lifetime or two with the idea of you’ title track, ‘I Got You’, ‘Taste’,‘Closer’, ‘Guard down’, ‘Dance Before we walk’, ‘Go Rogue’ - all by Nicholas Galitzine and ‘Light on’ by Maggie Rogers, mostly written by Savan Kotecha, stay with you long after the movie is done. They are all potential hits in the making and are likely to fuel a cult craze for this May-December love story. The cinematography by Jim Frohna, Production design by Amy Williams, Editing by Peter Teschner and background score by Siddhartha Khosla add fuel to the romance we experience in all its glory, here. Hathaway is the one who holds your attention throughout. As a mother torn between an established well-oiled routine and the risk of a relationship with Hayes, she is imminently believable. She brings her own vulnerabilities to the role and does well to allow Galitzine to hold his own. The chemistry between the two leads may not be palpable but there’s enough tenderness and passion in the by play to make it feel believable. Other than the first accidental meeting which comes across as contrived, the subsequent meetings between the  two play out quite convincingly. Showalter also manages to make the romance come good as opposed to ending envisaged in Lee’s book. Showalter makes this a sleek, feel-good romcom that delivers the requisite laughs and coasts along largely on the magnetism of its leads. And there’s no doubt that only Anne Hathaway could have made this fantasy role look so plausible.

Still from The Fall Guy

The Fall Guy movie review: A serviceable homage to the stunt community

Film: The Fall GuyCast: Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, Stephanie Hsu, Teresa PalmerDirector: David LeitchRating: 2.5/5Runtime: 126 min Ryan Gosling steps into Lee Major’s shoes for the movie version of the hit TV series ‘The Fall Guy’. The film plays out as an action fueled romcom with both lead actors working well within the genre’s elementary codes. Midway through the narrative we find Jody ( Emily Blunt) who is helming her debut film ( a full-on, sc-fi action love story between a space cowboy and an alien princess), disgruntled on seeing her unreliable ex, stunt double Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) working on her set. At first Jody wants him off the set, but later on relents and gets him to redo a dangerous stunt several times over - even when not required, and then she promptly recites  the plot of her sci-fi romance, in such a way as to make Seavers realise it is their own story. That’s as funny as this movie gets. Basically, this is thin plotting held together by exemplary stunt work and some solid charisma from its lead stars. The plot is nonsensical. The in-film’s lead action star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) goes incommunicado, the Director is totally unaware because she is concentrating on shooting the stunt sequences and the stunt man on the job is someone who hasn’t trained a day since he broke his back 18 months ago. The down-and-out stuntman Seavers is also tasked with finding the missing star. Then a murder takes place, Seavers gets framed and there’s even talk of AI and deep fakes being used for making the charge stick. Seavers is also made to go through the works falling through windscreens, jumping down from heights, racing and outmaneuvering the baddies in fast-moving vehicles and boats - all with a patched together back. The storyline is pretty lame and quite a challenge it is to suspend your disbelief here. The action sequences are delivered in entertaining fashion, it’s not edgy but manages to thrill even so.“The Fall Guy” includes some really difficult stunt work - a cannon roll stunt, a fight in a spinning dumpster, and several incredible vehicle jumps. The apartment-wrecking fight between Colt and a sword-wielding female assailant, a nightclub fight with Colt hallucinating sparks and a car-and-truck chase get the adrenaline going for a bit. But there’s not much balance here between character, comedy, and action. Aaron Taylor-Johnson does well as the toonish action star, Gosling is assured in comedy and Blunt is a hoot. Gosling and Blunt get some really believable chemistry going, accompanied by some tongue in cheek humour. Gosling in fact, transitions from assured stunt performer to heartbroken lover out for redemption, with consummate ease. Winston Duke as a stunt co-ordinator quoting inspiring dialogue from movies and naming action stars/characters while getting into fights, adds to the fun element here. The fly away humor gets embedded with some classic references and musical parlays. The lead couple correct each other while referencing ‘Notting Hill’ and in split-screen - like in ‘Pillow Talk,’ and we even get to see a heartbroken Colt shedding tears while a Taylor Swift song is playing on his car stereo. The ‘Dune’ parody may not work up laughs but it’s a send-up that registers.   ‘The Fall Guy’ hopes to be an anachronism in today’s CGI heavy cinema. It’s practical effects and real world action highlights the high-risk, dangerous lives of Stunt people while setting up a fairly enjoyable meter of action-comedy in its wake.

Ryan Gosling

Controversy brews ahead of 'The Fall Guy' premiere over Johnny Depp

As anticipation builds for the upcoming theatrical release of the action-comedy film 'The Fall Guy,' starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, controversy has erupted surrounding a particular line of dialogue of the film. Directed by David Leitch, the film features a scene where Hannah Waddingham's character, Gail Meyer, makes a reference to the tumultuous relationship between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The dialogue in question occurs when Waddingham's character enters a trailer looking dishevelled and remarks to director Jody Moreno, played by Blunt, "It's like Amber and Johnny were just in here." This single line has ignited a firestorm of criticism on social media platforms. Reacting to the scene, one user on X expressed disdain, stating, "'The Fall Guy' made a distasteful 'joke' about the domestic abuse Amber suffered at the hands of Johnny. It's 2024, why are we writing these kinds of lines into movies? Nasty work." “the fall guy” made a distasteful “joke” about the domestic abuse amber suffered at the hands of johnny. it’s 2024, why are we writing these kinds of lines into movies? nasty work https://t.co/n1eCsM2o38 — lily (@lavfeysun) April 23, 2024 Another social media user questioned the humour behind the alleged joke, emphasizing, "Would love to ask the writer what he thinks is so funny about domestic violence." everyone should be aware that the new “comedy” movie The Fall Guy (which is getting a wide theatrical release in a few weeks) allegedly makes a cheap Amber / J*hnny joke. would love to ask the writer what he thinks is so funny about domestic violence… — shane russo (@shxnerusso) April 22, 2024 The controversy is further fueled by the well-documented legal battles between Depp and Heard. The couple's highly publicized marriage and subsequent split in 2015 garnered significant media attention. Their legal disputes escalated in 2019 when Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard over an op-ed she wrote about domestic violence, although Depp was not directly named in the article. After a protracted court battle marked by sensational allegations from both parties, Depp emerged victorious on all defamation claims, while Heard won one claim and was awarded damages. Against this backdrop, the inclusion of a reference to their relationship in 'The Fall Guy' has struck a nerve with many viewers. 'The Fall Guy' is scheduled to premiere in theatres this Friday. The actor, who appeared on a podcast, is father to daughters Carmen Gabriela, 10, Maria Lucia Victoria, 3, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 16 months, as well as sons Rafael Thomas, 8, Leonardo ‘Leo’ Angel, 7, Romeo Alejandro, 5, and Eduardo ‘Edu’ Pao Lucas, 3, with Hilaria. Reflecting on his family size, he humorously added, “I have eight children. I got my oldest daughter. She has a baby, and her boyfriend and she are living in Oregon. I met my wife, and we got married and had seven kids in nine years. It’s crazy.” When asked if he is done having children, Baldwin jokingly responded, “How dare you ask me that question,” before admitting, “I think I’m done. I found that as I got older, work became less interesting to me. I want to work.  But they just don’t make many films anymore that I think are interesting. Plus, we’re all older. Whatever I’ve done in the past, I try not to be duplicative of that. Then all of a sudden I met my wife, who I love dearly. Every time the [youngest] baby would get to be two years old, we would say, ‘Maybe it’s time for one more baby, just one more baby.’ So we have seven kids.” This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum to financially cut off kids

Actor Jeff Goldblum, 71, has revealed his unconventional parenting philosophy aimed at making his children more “self-sufficient”. The actor emphasised the importance of teaching them the value of hard work and independence. In a podcast with Bruce Bozzi, Goldblum said, “You’ve got to row your own boat. It’s an important thing to teach kids. I’m not going to do it for you. And you’re not going to want me to do it for you.”  He underscored his belief in the merit of learning to navigate life’s challenges without a safety net. Goldblum’s approach to parenting is rooted in a desire for his children—Charlie, 8, and River, 6, to find their passion and pursue what they love. The actor, married to Canadian dancer Emilie Livingston, 41, became a father later in life and regards this timing as beneficial, allowing him to impart meaningful wisdom and values to his sons. Sofia Vergara

Vergara reveals why she can’t be too picky about men

Sofia Vergara feels she can’t be too “picky” about who she dates, as it is already hard for women over 50 to find someone. Vergara, who parted ways with Joe Manganiello last year, remains open to the idea of dating another celebrity. “It’s already hard for a 50-something woman to find someone. I’m not going to be now picky about, ‘Oh, he can only be a doctor. Oh, he can only be an astronaut.’ No, I’m not that picky,” the actor told in an interview. She has learned that love can be a tricky thing. The Hollywood star, who married Manganiello in 2015, said, “You never know what the future is going to bring. You need to always give the best that you can, be the best person to the other person. Be there for them when they need you, when they’re going through the hardest time. Hopefully that will one day come back to you.” Looking ahead, Vergara anticipates the joy of becoming a grandmother one day. “I already like what he does with me. Manolo has a dog, and on the weekends he just drops the dog at my house. I used to drop him at my mom’s house during the weekend so that I could at least go out every once in a while.” This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
