US President Donald Trump recently lashed out at Trevor Noah, who hosted this year's Grammy Awards, calling him 'pathetic' and talentless. The President further called the award ceremony 'the worst' and 'virtually unwatchable.' Donald Trump's reactions come after Trevor took a swipe at Trump and his one-time friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. Donald Trump slams Grammy Awards 2026 Taking to the social media network Truth Social, Donald Trump wrote, "The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer. The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards." Further clarifying Noah's statements, Trump took to Truth Social platform to hit back, "Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can't speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight's false and defamatory, statement, have never been accused being there, not even by the Fake News Media." Calling Trevor a "total loser", the US President wrote, "Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I'll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready, Noah, I'm going to have some fun with you! President DJT" What did Trevor Noah say? After Billie Eilish won the 'Song of the Year' Grammy, Noah transitioned for a moment with a joke at Trump's expense. "There you have it, song of the year! Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Wow. That's a Grammy that every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense because, since Epstein's gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton. I told you, it's my last year! What are you going to do about it?," Variety cited Noah's remarks from the award ceremony. Noah also joked about current events and the news cycle. While explaining a Korean drinking game linked to Bruno Mars and Rose's hit song APT., he compared it to life in the US. Talking about the game, he told the audience: "In America, every time you turn on the news, you drink." He then looked back at how things have changed since the late 1990s. While talking about Lauryn Hill returning to the Grammy stage for the first time in many years, Noah compared past and present headlines."Back in 1999, the president had had a sex scandal, people thought computers were about to destroy the world and Diddy was arrested, boy how times have changed," Noah said. 02 February,2026 01:45 PM IST | Los Angeles | AP | PTIThe 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026, brought global recognition to several Indian and Indian-origin musicians, but the night ended without a win for India. Despite strong nominations across key global music categories, none of the Indian artists shortlisted this year managed to take home the prestigious trophy. No awards for Indian nominees Indo-American jazz composer and pianist Charu Suri earned her first Grammy nomination for her album Shayan in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category. She was also recognised as a producer on Sounds of Kumbha, which received a nomination in the Best Global Music Album category. While her dual nominations marked a significant career milestone, Suri ultimately missed out on a win. Renowned fusion ensemble Shakti also entered the awards with high expectations. The group’s live album Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live) was nominated for Best Global Music Album, while the track “Sherni’s Dream (Live)” received a nod in the Best Global Music Performance category. The nominations highlighted Shakti’s enduring influence and global appeal, even though the group did not clinch an award this year. Anoushka Shankar loses it to Bad Bunny Celebrated sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar was among the most prominent Indian names at the ceremony. Her collaborative album Chapter III: We Return to Light, created alongside sarod player Alam Khan and percussionist Sarathy Korwar, was shortlisted for Best Global Music Album. In addition, the track “Daybreak” earned a nomination in the Best Global Music Performance category. Despite widespread anticipation, Shankar did not secure a win in either category. Composer Siddhant Bhatia was also recognised for his work on Sounds of Kumbha, which showcased a fusion of traditional Indian sounds with contemporary influences. Although the project did not win, the nomination itself reflected the growing appreciation for Indian music on the global stage. While India did not register a victory at the 2026 Grammys, the nominations underscored the country’s expanding presence in international music. The recognition served as a reminder that Indian artists continue to shape and influence global music conversations, even when the final prize remains just out of reach.
02 February,2026 01:39 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentAt the 68th Annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026, Billie Eilish and her brother-collaborator Finneas O’Connell won Song of the Year for their track “Wildflower,” delivering one of the most impactful moments of the evening. While the win itself marked another major milestone in Eilish’s already celebrated career, it was her acceptance speech that quickly became the night’s defining talking point. Billie Eilish advocates against immigration injustice Taking the stage alongside Finneas, Eilish used the moment to address immigration and human rights issues, departing from a conventional awards-show thank-you. In a powerful statement that drew loud applause from the audience, she declared, “No one is illegal on stolen land.” The remark resonated deeply, sparking conversations both inside the venue and across social media platforms shortly after the ceremony aired. Eilish urged viewers not to become complacent, encouraging continued protest, empathy, and activism. Her words reflected ongoing debates in the United States surrounding immigration policies and enforcement, as well as broader concerns about justice and equality. The speech underscored her long-standing willingness to use her platform to highlight political and social issues close to her heart. Billie Eilish makes a strong statement Adding to the symbolism of the moment, both Eilish and Finneas wore “ICE Out” pins, signaling opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement policies. At one point during her speech, Eilish used strong language while criticizing the agency, a moment that was partially censored during the live broadcast but still clearly conveyed her stance. The siblings’ remarks aligned with a wider theme of advocacy seen throughout the ceremony. Several artists used their time onstage to voice support for immigrant communities, making social consciousness a noticeable thread running through the night’s biggest wins. Eilish’s Song of the Year victory not only reaffirmed her creative partnership with Finneas but also highlighted her commitment to blending artistry with activism. By transforming an awards acceptance into a call for awareness and solidarity, she once again demonstrated that her influence extends well beyond music, leaving a lasting impression on one of the industry’s biggest stages.
02 February,2026 01:25 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentLady Gaga has been delighting fans around the world for years, and now she has one more big reason to celebrate. Gaga beat strong nominees in the category, which included Justin Bieber for Swag, Miley Cyrus for Something Beautiful, Teddy Swims for I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 2), and last year's winner, Sabrina Carpenter, for Man's Best Friend. When Gaga walked on stage to accept the award, she appeared visibly emotional. During her acceptance speech, she expressed how "honored" she was to stand among so many artists and shared how she started making music as a child. She also mentioned that she still has to "pinch herself" every time she's at the Grammys. The pop star also spoke about her partner, Michael, and said that he is by her side "every single day." "I'm honored to be up here," Gaga said during her acceptance speech. "I've been making music since I was a little girl, and every time I'm here, I still feel like I have to pinch myself. I respect everybody in this room so much. I have to say thank you first to my partner, Michael. I love you so much. You are by my side every single day in a way that I can't thank you enough for. You worked so hard with me on this record all year. So, I love you and thank you." Gaga also used the stage to speak to women in music, noting how challenging it can be to work in studios full of men. She urged women to "listen to yourself," "fight for your ideas," and ensure their voices are heard. Stating that Mayhem stands for "discipline and hard work," Gaga shared, "I just want to say to women in music that I know sometimes when you're in the studio with a bunch of guys, it can be hard. So, I urge you to always listen to yourself, always fight for your ideas, fight for your songs, fight for yourself as a producer, and make sure that you are heard loudly. And thank you so much for supporting me, all of you, in my craft. I believe in discipline and hard work and craftsmanship, and that's really what Mayhem is to me. Thank you." This win marks Gaga's second Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. She first won the same award in 2011 for The Fame Monster. Gaga also claimed early Grammy wins on Sunday, where dozens of awards were handed out ahead of the televised ceremony. She clinched the award for best dance pop recording.
