'The Lunchbox' (2013) director Ritesh Batra has bagged a spot on Variety magazine's list of the 10 directors to watch.
It marks the 20th anniversary of an effort that identified talented filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, Alfonso Cuaron, Alejandro González Inarritu and Taika Waititi, long before they rose to fame.
He bagged the honour owing to his film, The Sense of an Ending, which stars veteran British stars Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling.
He has also wrapped up Our Souls at Night, starring the legendary Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. All the directors on the list will be profiled in a special standalone issue on January 3.
They will also be honoured at the Palm Springs Film Festival in California.
