The woman named Jane Doe alleges assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distress after Cardi reportedly threw a microphone at her in Las Vegas

Cardi B, an American singer, is facing a lawsuit for reportedly hurting a lady with a microphone during a 2023 performance at a Las Vegas beach club. According to Billboard, the woman, who has filed under the pseudonym Jane Doe, accuses the rapper of assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distress as a result of the incident.
The altercation occurred in July 2023, while Cardi was performing in the scorching heat. In viral footage from the day party, Cardi appeared to request that admirers throw water on her to cool her down. According to Billboard, Jane Doe alleges she followed this prompt by lightly throwing her drink at the rapper, as several audience members were doing. Cardi's reaction, according to Doe, was both unexpected and violent.
"Multiple attendees responded in kind, throwing drinks toward the stage, several of which visibly reached Cardi B and the surrounding performance area," her attorneys said in the lawsuit filed on Monday, according to the article.
"Plaintiff, acting by the climate established by Cardi B's express statements and conduct, sprayed a small amount of her drink in Cardi B's direction, as did other guests. Cardi B hurled her microphone directly at the plaintiff in apparent fury and without warning," according to the complaint.
Here's what the complaint was about
According to the complaint, the microphone struck the woman, causing both physical harm and severe emotional distress. Jane claimed she experienced online harassment and personal embarrassment after the incident went viral. Her sorrow, she adds, was exacerbated when the microphone was auctioned off for $99,000 online shortly after the concert.
The woman is also suing the beach club in Las Vegas for negligence, claiming that the venue failed to take necessary safeguards or intervene when the situation deteriorated. She also claimed that security personnel should have been aware of Cardi's explosive behaviour, especially given the rapper had thrown a microphone at a DJ the night before at the same spot, according to the lawsuit.
"What many others dismissed as a joke turned out to be a terrible experience that had a profound influence on my well-being and quality of life. "I'm seeking justice in the hopes of holding Cardi B accountable for her actions, because no celebrity is above the law," the woman said in a public statement."
Cardi B's legal team dismissed the case
Her attorney, Cierra N. Norris, is scheduled to conduct a press conference in Las Vegas today. According to representatives, the woman is choosing anonymity because she is dealing with mental health issues as a result of the incident and is concerned about public backlash.
Meanwhile, Cardi B's legal team has dismissed the case. Her lawyer, Drew Findling, described the lawsuit as a "transparent and pitiful attempted financial shakedown."
"The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney's Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up," Findling quipped.
