Shine Tom Chacko on Soothravakyam

Talking about the film, lead actor Shine Tom Chacko said, “Taking on the role of Christo Xavier was truly a transformative experience for me, both as an actor and as a person. Christo’s journey is not just about his professional responsibilities as a policeman or a teacher, but also about navigating empathy, duty, and personal conscience. What struck me most was how Soothravakyam avoids easy answers. It shows how even good intentions can have unintended consequences, especially when dealing with young lives and the emotions that run deep within families and close-knit communities. Every day on set, I uncovered new layers to Christo, his doubts, his hopes, and his determination to do what’s right, even when the path isn’t clear. Soothravakyam is more than just a film to me, it’s a reflection of the everyday battles and unspoken stories that unfold in the quiet corners of our communities. I am glad that this story is reaching a wider audience as it’s a story that needs to be seen, and I hope everyone enjoys the digital premiere.”

Balances realism with empathy

Talking about the film, Director Eugien Jos Chirammel said, “The narrative of Soothravakyam delves deep into the innocence of youth but confronts the harsh complexities that often challenge that innocence. My aim was to present an authentic portrayal of how a single event can ripple through a village, affecting not just those at its centre but highlighting the resilience and vulnerabilities of everyone involved. We worked hard to balance realism with empathy, ensuring every character, no matter how small their role, felt true to life and relatable. From the first page of the script to the last day on set, I wanted the audience to feel as if they were part of this world, laughing, hurting, and ultimately healing with the characters.“
