Thalapathy Vijay and Jason Sanjay

Thalapathy Vijay has largely kept his family away from the limelight. On Wednesday, Vijay’s 25-year-old son Jason Sanjay was spotted by the paparazzi at the Hyderabad airport. He was seen arriving solo — a rare public appearance for him — without any entourage or staff member accompanying him.

Jason Sanjay's rare public appearance

In videos circulating on social media, Jason was seen in a simple outfit, a blue polo T-shirt paired with denim jeans, white sneakers, and a black backpack. The young man noticed photographers clicking him but did not stop to pose for pictures. Instead, he quietly went about his way.

In another clip, Jason was seen descending an escalator when he noticed the paparazzi. He smiled and nodded in acknowledgment, a gesture that reminded fans of his superstar father. One user wrote, “No DNA test needed. That smile and reaction are just like Thalapathy Vijay’s Sachien days! Looks like some paparazzi called Jason Sanjay ‘Ilaya Thalapathy,’ that’s why that cute reaction.”

Jason’s directorial debut

Jason is currently working on his first film as a director, backed by Lyca Productions. Tentatively titled JSJ01, the film stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role.

Announcing Jason’s debut in 2023, Lyca Productions wrote, “We are happy to announce that Mr. Jason Sanjay Vijay will direct our next project, which has a unique story premise and an engrossing experience. When he narrated the script, we were totally satisfied as it gave us a cinematic feel.”

They further added, “It’s great to see that he has specialized in screenwriting and direction and understands the complete production process — an essential quality every filmmaker should master.” Jason completed a Film Production Diploma at Toronto Film School and later pursued a BA (Hons) in Screenwriting in London.

Thalapathy Vijay’s work front

Meanwhile, as Jason begins his career, Vijay is preparing to retire from films. The actor’s last movie will be Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, scheduled for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026, ahead of Pongal. Vijay has announced that he will dedicate his time entirely to politics following the film’s release.

On February 2, 2024, Vijay launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Recently, the actor made headlines after 40 people tragically died in a stampede at a rally attended by him in Karur. The incident, which occurred on September 27, is currently under investigation.
