The Raja Saab trailer
Amid much anticipation, the makers of The Raja Saab have finally released the awaited trailer. Starring Prabhas, Nidhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar, The Raja Saab is all set to light up the big screens on January 9, 2026. Helmed by Maruthi, the film is one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. And now, with the trailer unveiled, the excitement among fans has heightened.
The Raja Saab trailer 2.0
Taking to social media, the makers of The Raja Saab released the trailer. While sharing it with his fans, Prabhas wrote, "TheRajaSaab Trailer 2.0 (Telugu) is out now… See you all in theatres on Jan 9th, 2026." The trailer blends different genres such as romance, horror, and comedy well in the film. It also reveals Sanjay Dutt, who plays the role of Prabhas’ grandfather in the film. His character assumes a menacing form after death as his spirit inhabits a massive mansion and emerges as a powerful and seemingly unbeatable evil force.

The trailer also displays an emotional side of Prabhas, who plays a caring grandson to Zarina Wahab. After death, Sanjay Dutt’s character troubles both Prabhas and his wife, turning it into a frightening battle. The film lays the foundation for an intense face-off between the grandson and his spirit grandfather. It also teases a series of unsettling experiences while posing questions about the true nature of Sanjay Dutt’s character.
Sharing his experience of working on the film, Prabhas said, “The three years of stress and responsibility of Raja Saab brought tears to Maruthi garu’s eyes. When I first met him, I told him that films were becoming too action-oriented and that we should give audiences a proper entertainer. That is how this horror-comedy took shape. Vishwa Prasad garu kept believing in Maruthi garu’s script and supported it throughout. When I heard the climax, I became a fan of Maruthi garu’s writing. I honestly wondered whether he wrote it with a pen or a machine gun. Such a climax hasn’t come even in horror-comedy films. You must watch it and tell me. After 15 years, Maruthi is giving full Darling entertainment. The film is arriving this Sankranti. All Sankranti films should do well, and along with them, The RajaSaab should also become a blockbuster.”
Prabhas dresses up as Joker in The Raja Saab trailer
Interestingly, at the end of The Raja Saab trailer, Prabhas is seen dressed as a Joker in a suit, his head held low, as he holds a massive hammer in his hand. When he lifts his head, his face can be seen painted white with colourful markings, resembling a clown. The specific makeup he is seen wearing seems inspired by Joaquin Phoenix’s from the 2019 film, Joker. The shot ends with Prabhas gazing into the camera.
Looking at the scene, many fans thought that the shot was intentional, referring to Arshad Warsi calling Prabhas a Joker on a podcast in 2024. One user on X pointed out, “Arshad Warsi once said that Prabhas is a joker. Now, it seems like Prabhas has taken that comment seriously." Many other users had a similar opinion.
During an August 2024 podcast with Samdish Bhatia, Arshad was talking about Kalki 2898 AD when he said, “Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he… he was like a joker. Why? I want to see Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of it? Why do they do such things, I never understand)”
