This new restaurant on the Alibaug boardwalk has a sun-drenched rhythm and a coastal soul

Around the end of last year, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) announced the launch of its first flagship for their signature lifestyle catering brand, Soulinaire, in Alibaug. This 200-seater, two-storey space, overlooking the Arabian Sea is visible the moment you step off the ferry enroute the coastal town and acts as a good pitstop before heading home too.
The ground floor opens into a breezy terrace with handcrafted fans spinning lazily overhead. A small indoor pool adds to the relaxed coastal vibe. The air-conditioned interiors have floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted sea views and the circular bar anchors the space. The top floor is a private banquet space, ideal for small soirees and coastal parties alike.

We tried the Jheenga Masala (Rs 800), which was coastal-style prawns cooked in a coconut base, that went perfectly with piping hot rice and rice bhakri. So did the Mutton cha Kalvan ( Rs 800), slow-cooked mutton in a aromatic, rustic gravy, and the best was the Gaoran Kombdi Rassa (Rs 800), a fiery, home-style chicken curry with a coastal kick. The tandoori pomfret was a let down since the marinade seemed off.
We liked the Thyme Mushroom and Cheese (Rs 540) tartine that came on a bed of potato salli. It was earthy in its flavours and ideal for sharing over drinks. So was the Vegetarian Supreme Pizza (Rs 660) with assorted vegetables, tomato sauce, and mozzarella. The Satay and Cheese Naan Bomb was a bit of a let-down. We ended the meal with Bonding Bliss Sundae – Rs 600, designed as a family-style dessert, with ice cream, crunch, and drizzles. We then played board games, lazed around and took the 5 pm ferry back home, watching the sun go down on 2025.
