The 50: Iconic rivals who will have a face-off inside the high-stakes game

Reality television rivalries are often forged in moments that go far beyond the screen - heated confrontations, physical clashes, and unresolved tensions that refuse to fade with time. The 50 brings several such iconic rivals back into the spotlight, giving their past conflicts renewed relevance as they come face to face once again inside a high-stakes game. The globally successful format, owned by Banijay, makes its much-anticipated Indian debut on JioHotstar and Colors, placing contestants from across industries into a pressure-packed, strategy-driven environment where old equations can quickly resurface. As unfinished business collides with fresh gameplay, audiences can expect sparks to fly when these rivals step back into the arena. The 50 begins streaming from 1st February, setting the stage for rivalries to reignite and strategies to evolve. Siwet Tomar vs Digvijay Singh Rathee Digvijay Singh Rathee rose to prominence through Roadies - Karm Ya Kaand (2023) and later Splitsvilla X5, where his assertive personality frequently brought him into conflict with fellow contestants, most notably Siwet Tomar. Their rivalry extended beyond the shows and recently escalated during a fan meet, where tensions spilled into a physical confrontation. According to reports, the altercation began when Siwet, visibly agitated, pushed Digvijay. This led to a brief but intense physical fight between the two, drawing widespread attention online. With their rivalry now firmly established both on and off screen, their entry into The 50 places them back in the same competitive environment, setting the stage for a highly anticipated face-off shaped by unresolved tension. Rajat Dalal vs Chahat Pandey Rajat Dalal and Chahat Pandey’s rivalry stems from an incident during Bigg Boss 16 that became one of the season’s most discussed moments. The situation unfolded when Chahat approached Rajat to wish him good night while he was engaged in a conversation with Arfeen Khan. Rajat responded by returning the gesture using his feet, an action that quickly sparked controversy. When the incident was pointed out to Chahat, she confronted Rajat while holding a heavy gold statue and struck his foot with it. Rajat reacted immediately, visibly affected by the pain. The incident escalated further, ultimately leading to Chahat’s eviction from the show due to her behaviour. As both now enter The 50, their shared history adds a layer of tension that is unlikely to be ignored. Shiv Thakare vs Archana Gautam Shiv Thakare and Archana Gautam’s rivalry was one of the most intense dynamics inside the Bigg Boss house. Their conflicts escalated when Shiv made remarks that involved Archana’s family, particularly her mother, crossing a personal boundary that triggered a strong reaction. The situation further intensified when Archana physically assaulted Shiv during an argument, an incident that became a major turning point in the season. Their clashes highlighted a fundamental mismatch in temperament and communication styles. As they reunite in The 50, the memory of these incidents brings unresolved friction back into focus, raising questions about whether time and experience have altered their equation. Prince Narula vs Lovekesh Kataria Prince Narula’s rivalry with Lovekesh Kataria stems from the wider digital and reality television discourse surrounding Elvish Yadav and his inner circle. The tension has been visible through public statements, online conversations, and contrasting opinions within the influencer and reality show ecosystem. The rivalry took a direct turn when Prince, upon entering The 50, openly told the media that he intends to eliminate Lovekesh from the game. With Prince’s long-standing reality show dominance and Lovekesh’s strong digital following, their face-off represents a clash between traditional reality television authority and new-age internet influence, making it one of the most closely watched rivalries of the season. These rivalries return in The 50, with contestants stepping back into the game carrying unresolved confrontations and past tensions. As they come face to face once again, viewers will be watching closely to see whether these rivalries escalate further or give way to more calculated, strategic gameplay within the new format. The 50 premieres on 1st February, streaming on JioHotstar at 9:00 PM and airing at 10:30 PM on Colors.

In an exclusive chat with mid day, social media star Faisal Shaikh, popularly known as Faisu, opened up about stepping into the high pressure reality show The 50, his mindset going in, and why this journey is deeply personal for him. Faisu talks about the stunts and former experience Talking about the format of the show, Faisu made it clear that this is not about flashy stunts. “I’m well versed, but this is not going to be a powerful, dynamic stunt. These are going to be small activities and tasks in the arena. There are going to be a lot of mind games here,” he said, adding that the challenge will be mental as much as physical. Despite the uncertainty, he maintained a calm optimism. “I’m well prepared. I haven’t prepared myself for anything yet. I’m positive. I’ll try to do well. If it goes well, it will go well. If it doesn’t go well, I’ll try to do well. That is for sure.” With 50 contestants living under one roof, Faisu admitted to mixed emotions. “I’m very excited because all the people are going to stay in the same house and everyone has to see each other’s faces,” he said, while also confessing, “I’m a little nervous that two people will get eliminated in one show. I don’t want to get eliminated soon. Like every show, I’m going to stay till the end and win.” On participating in The 50 What makes The 50 especially intense is the constant surveillance. “We have 100 cameras with us. We’re going to shoot for 12 hours, and we’ll shoot for 12 more hours when we sit and rest or sleep. This is the first time I’m doing something like this,” he shared. “You will see a new Faisu here for 24 hours. The Faisu you didn’t see off cam, you will see it here.” Asked about friendships and rivalries, Faisu kept an open mind. “All the contestants are my friends. I don’t know the contestants, so they are my friends. But it depends on the game. There is rivalry in every game. Maybe I’ll make a good bond with someone, maybe a new friendship, or maybe I’ll have a fight with someone.” Above all, Faisu revealed his biggest motivation, his fans. “This time my fans will benefit from my victory. I’ve decided that I’m going to win because I can do anything for my fans. They have brought me here,” he said emotionally. “I will try my best to win the trophy, and I will do this for my fans.” Ending on a lighter note, he summed up his approach simply. “My first thought was to enjoy the show. I get to do activities here, I get to play games, and I love playing games.”

Akshay Kumar on new show Wheel of Fortune: 'Need more than luck for big bucks'

If Akshay Kumar brought adrenaline rush and daredevilry to the small screen as the host of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, he is bringing games of a different kind this time. The superstar began hosting the Indian edition of Wheel of Fortune, which premièred on January 27 on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV. What made him give his nod to a show about word puzzles and prizes? Perhaps its legacy, considering the original American show has been on air since 1975? Nope, the actor pegs it down to its novelty.   “I’ve always believed in saying yes to something that feels new,” shares Kumar. “The format instantly intrigued me. What I enjoy about the game is that it keeps you guessing till the very end. At any moment, fortunes can change — you can move from a small amount to a jackpot, or lose it all if you’re not fully present,” he elaborates. Riteish Deshmukh Each game has three contestants and four rounds, where contestants have to complete the puzzles and spin the wheel to win money. According to Kumar, the show reflects the qualities one needs in life. “The wheel doesn’t just test your luck; it tests your awareness, thinking, and presence of mind. The idea that one wrong moment can wipe out everything you have won so far makes it real. It reflects life — fortune comes to everyone, but only those who stay alert can hold on to it. The show already has a strong global appeal, and bringing its Indian edition feels exciting.” The host opened the show with actors Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh. Interestingly, during the episode, it was revealed that Kumar refers to Riteish — his frequent co-star — as Pinky Kapoor. Ask him the backstory, and he laughingly says, “Riteish and I go back a long way, years of working together. When we were talking about how big the prize money can get, Riteish joked, ‘If you give me that kind of money, I’ll even change my name’. That’s when I started calling him Pinky Kapoor, and it just stuck.”

As anticipation builds for the launch of the new reality show The 50, a major spoiler has already begun making waves online. Reports suggest that Lovekesh Kataria may become the first contestant to be evicted, possibly on Day 1 itself, even before viewers get a chance to see the show unfold on television. Adapted from a popular international format, the show promises intense mind games, alliances and unexpected eliminations, making it one of the most talked about upcoming reality series. Did Lovekesh Kataria get evicted? According to inside sources, the first day of the show involved a challenging Arena task, designed to immediately test the contestants’ physical and mental agility.
