Call Me Bae marked singer Lisa Mishra’s foray into acting, and returning to the series’ world has reminded her how special it is to her. Currently shooting the second season of the Ananya Panday-led comedy, the actor couldn’t be happier to reprise her role of a news producer, Niki. The new installment of Call Me Bae is already halfway through production, with Lisa confirming that nearly half of the shoot has been completed. The team is expected to wrap up filming by late March.

Even as she returns to the world, Lisa has been balancing multiple creative commitments - shuffling between live music performances, recording new tracks, and spending long days on set. For the artiste, it’s a demanding but deeply fulfilling phase.
Lisa, who marked a significant acting breakthrough with the first season, believes her journey as a musician has profoundly shaped the way she approaches performance on screen. Speaking about her evolving journey, Lisa says, “I don’t see acting as a pivot at all or a detour to anything. It genuinely feels like an expansion of who I already am as an artist. As a songwriter, I’ve always lived inside emotions understanding silences, subtext, heartbreak, joy, and everything in between. When you write music, you’re constantly asking yourself why a feeling exists and how it manifests and how to emote that with sound, your voice, the lyrics etc. and that process has deeply informed my acting. It’s helped me add layers, nuances, and honesty to my performances.”
She further adds, “Call Me Bae came into my after years of having tried to bite the bug of acting and something I tried extensively through years to be part of. When it did come along, it fell into place, not without the struggle to land that first acting job and gave me the confidence to trust my instincts as an actor cos it finally paid off. Season 2 feels even more exciting. I’m more present, more fearless, and more curious. It’s been such a beautiful, intense process balancing it with my live shows and getting back into the studio to record new music."
