Today, Pentagram's fans in Mumbai can engage in some serious Headbanging to the sounds of the band's latest album -- Bloodywood
The title, Bloodywood is bound to raise eyebrows. But Pentagram means serious business with their latest boom out of the box. Fronted by Vishal Dadlani and produced by Randolph Correia, along with drummer Shiraz Bhattacharya and bassist Papal Mane, this album is quintessentially Mumbai.

The title, the band believes represents all the non-mainstream artistic expression that is silently bringing about a cultural revolution, we are told. "This album is inspired by this city. This time, this place and these people inspire it -- the here and now in Mumbai. For us it is important to put an album that could only come from here and nowhere else in the world. The album is a true reflection of us, our lives and all the circumstances that affect us," shares Dadlani.
The 14-track album ranges from the intensely personal (Nocturne, Human Failings, I Get You, This Could Get Ugly, In My Head), to the fun, jumparound-vibe (Lovedrug Climbdown, Mental Zero, Nutter), to the socially relevant (Must I, Tomorrow's Decided, Identify). Dadlani adds that Bloodywood has a lot of new stuff -- "From lyrical (to) going to places we've never been before, sonically, it's a giant step ahead. It's heavier, more guitar-driven than previous albums, and yet stays true to our Electro vibe.
While quizzing Dadlani on how much has changed since Pentagram's previous album, he is candid "Everything has changed -- it's normal. It has been three and a half years and everything changes in that time. The only thing that hasn't changed is, it's the same guys and the same band. Life around us has changed, the city has changed, and the people have changed. There are more clubs, more venues and a greater acceptability of Indie music.
There are more festivals, more organisations and all of that, but on the city front there is more chaos, more disorder. It's like there is a sharper divide between people. We are trying to look at the positivity, the energy, and the upside of it all. The album is very true; there was no thought process or filter."
