After clothes, shoes and every other necessity in the world, your aunts in Toronto and your cousins in New York can now buy farsan, or snacks, online on Farsankart.com
After initial questioning and doubts, several Indians (including us) have embraced the comforts of online shopping. Apparel shopping sites are now passé; we’ve come across sites that specifically cater to select audiences such as parents of newborns, Indie designers, vintage memorabilia, wine and related products and adult products.

This was long overdue. Farsankart.com, as the name suggests, is a Gujarat-based online shopping portal for farsan, or snacks. Their USP is that they ship to the US, UK, UAE, Canada, Australia and India (no shopping charges for us, luckily). The site sells products by six different brands, and a browse through the site threw up options for buying ready-mix masalas such as Tikka Masala and Chhas Masala to Vada Pav Masala and Mukhwas (mouth fresheners).
The options for farsan are more of the regular kinds (no Schezuan Chakli or Achchari Aloo Wafers), you will find popular treats like banana chips, Chana Dal, Cheese Sev, Kachori, Bhakharwadi as well as a mix of biscuits and cookies. The costs are a bit of a bummer – Rs 130 for 200 gms of banana wafers is steep. They accept credit and debit cards and have the netbanking option too.
So, if your folks in the West crave for a bite of delish farsan or if you’re time-strapped (lazy enough to skip the local farsanwala) this site is bound to come to your rescue.
