The teenage son of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has broken the world record for the fastest typing on an iPad, local TV company Imedi said Tuesday

Eduard Saakashvili, 15, typed the English alphabet on an iPad in 5.26 seconds, 1.05 seconds faster than the previous record set by a British teenager in 2010.

"When I learned about this record I quickly realised that I could break it. Registering my record officially and inviting a representative of Guinness World Records was the most difficult thing," the new record holder said.

The president's son was allowed three attempts to break the record. He succeeded in the first try.

The achievement was recorded in Batumi, a Georgian resort on the Black Sea, with Georgian first lady Sandra Roelofs, her younger son Nikoloz and Eduard's grandmother in attendance.
