With a diverse work culture and a fat salary package to match, The hospitality industry is awaiting those who love dynamism
The one thing we can't do without, is luxurious living. And that comes with great hotels and high-standard serving. In any country, the hospitality industry is inextricably linked with its overall economic prosperity and resourcefulness. In other words, the developmental level of the hospitality industry could well be considered the index of its all round growth. Hospitality Management, including the Food Service Industry, is one of the fastest growing occupations in the world. Food Service personnel are needed at the rate of one to every 10 to 12 positions, and the industry is seeking those with a culinary and hospitality education to meet the complex demands of the 21st century.u00a0
Vinay Rai believes he is apt for this industry. This first year student pursuing his hotel management course at IHM Delhi, loves his choice of career. "This is a career with a difference. These courses make one aware of the operating-sections of the hospitality industry like front office, general operations, sales and marketing, food and beverage, service keeping and catering. There are plenty of options to choose from, that too with a handsome salary package."
A K Singh, a professor at the Institute of Hotel Management, Chennai seconds Rai's ideas. "Hospitality is an industry that is known for promoting from within, and for having a large number of young managers. If you're talented and demonstrate a good work ethic, you can advance quickly. There is no limit to where your dreams and ambitions can take you in the exciting and fascinating world of hospitality management," he tells.
Personality traits
The industry demands a friendly, helpful, outgoing personality, ability to take responsibility and to work well with others. A temperament which remains unruffled in inevitable crises, a good memory for faces (as regular guests appreciate recognition) and considerable self confidence.

This will not only give you practical working experience in the industry, it will also make you and your resume more marketable upon graduation.
