Titled Art Reinterprets Art: God, Sex, Money in Western and Indian Art, the book by Ram K Piparaiya, deals with interesting topics related to art including what makes a work of art priced in millions and one artist more reputed than others, how revealing artworks created controversies over the years and how art has come to signify big money.
While the topics are exhaustive, the author does a great job of keeping it simple, demystifying the world of art (which can often confuse one with its high-brow terms and jargon) and interspersing it with interesting anecdotes pertaining to artists and their works. While we would have loved the book to have illustrations (the book only has thumbnail images), the author’s explanation of copyright issues is a genuine concern. All in all, a must-have for your home library and a must-read for art lovers.
