Online store Cupidity, started by Karishma Jhaveri and Masumi Jain offers various colourful and trendy bags and clutches
From the world of bears and bulls to that of designs and creativity for most it may seem like a strange switch. But for 22-year-old Karishma Jhaveri, this seemed to be an obvious choice as she found the colourful clutch more enticing than the briefcase.

Along with her childhood buddy Masumi Jain, she soon formed Cupidity, a line of trendy clutches and bags.

"We had read a lot of blogs and groups on Facebook about people who have their own line of clothes and accessories. So we thought why shouldn't we do it too?" says Jhaveri, who used to work in her father's stock broking firm. "Plus the markets were really down," she adds.
Jhaveri and Jain initially started by selling outsourced bags, but soon after they started designing their own bags as well. Jain is a graphic designer.
Other than that, the two youngsters have no formal training in design "We follow the current trends and design our bags accordingly. After the designing part is done the bag is made from scratch by our craftsmen," says Jhaveri, about the design process of Cupidity, which had its first exhibition in October last year.
Jhaveri and Jain wanted the brand to have a young and fun feel to it, so they came up with the name Cupidity. The name fits the bill as their products include trendy envelope and box clutches, totes, shopping bags and slings in lace and bright colours.
We loved their lace envelope clutch and the glossy pink clutch, which are simple in design, but make a statement at the same time. We also liked their range of big studded shopping bags. Their purple studded suede clutch (available in three colours) is, according to us, a must buy.
Cupidity also provides customised bags, where you can choose from different patterns and fittings, and decide on a shape, material and embellishment type.
They also have mobile cover, Ipad and laptop sleeves on offer. Their next line will include a lot of sequined work and blingy pieces along with a few trendy accessories. Jhaveri also plans on designing shoes in future.
