He is one of the most known and loved politicians to lead Saurashtra. From 2012 to 2017, he has led the community of OBC, SC and ST. He made sure that his efforts are not taken as just an initiative and is taken as a revolutionary change. During his tenure of 5 years, he remained the in-charge of Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena building opportunities for his community. He even worked for the upliftment of the education and health sector leading to a lot of changes in his area.

His extreme passion to change the current status of the unprivileged has introduced him and made him the leader of many. Chetan Thakor worked as a role model for many youth who wished to bring a change through unconditional passion towards their community. Through the pandemic when people were struggling to find oxygen cylinders due to an excessive number of cases, he offered hands by arranging for masks, sanitizer, oxygen cylinder and ration kits. He has set new limits for all future leaders in the community. As said by many that the only difference between a boss and a leader is that a leader does not just think about his own upliftment rather believes in uplifting the entire team, Chetan Thakor is the true example of being a leader.
