Six point plan: If you're a student travelling abroad

Travelling abroad for further studies can be intimidating and exciting as well. Trip Teamu00a0gives you a handy checklist to ensure you don't end up losing your way in a foreign land

*
Check the weather of the country you plan to visit and pack clothes, suitably. While packing focus on clothes with dual purposes such as long pants that can be rolled up to capris; zip-off shorts are another option. While sandals and flip-flops may be your preferred footwear, carry at least one pair of walking shoes.

* Avoid wearing flashy jewellery or ultra-expensive brands as these could make you a target for crime and unnecessary attention.

* Make copies of your passport and important travel documents. When you reach your destination store your passport in a safe place, but always travel with a copy in case you are asked for it. In addition, leave a copy of your passport at home so you can apply for a new one in case of theft or getting misplaced.

* Visiting some countries will mean having jabs, or taking anti-malaria tablets; enquire about health conditions you need to follow before landing.

* Pack a first-aid kit containing band-aids, first aid cream, pain relievers and some gauze or cotton balls and otheru00a0 basic medication.

* Use traveller's cheques instead of carrying large amounts of cash. If your cash is lost or stolen it cannot be replaced; this is possible with traveller's cheques.
