Indulge in a delightful spread of yummy mango flavoured treats as the Royal Orchid Hotel celebrates this season with a special mango festival

Go mangolicious

It’s that time of the year when the smell of ripe mangoes sweet and tempting fills the air. To get a taste of the fruit of the season, head to the Royal Orchid Hotel and indulge in some delicious mango treats at their special mango festival. The festival is on till the end of this month.

On offer at the festival are Mango pastries, Panna Cotta, tarts and a lot more. “The mango festival is a part of the ‘flavour of the month’ plan for the rest of the year where we will be highlighting one special flavour for every month,” informs Chef Brijesh Kumar, Executive Chef, Royal Orchid Hotel. “This month we have to succumb to the king of the fruits, the mango,” he adds.

The festival begins with an array of delightful desserts and will proceed to sinful shakes and smoothies and also some innovative mango-flavoured main course dishes like the Mango Chicken Tikka. “Mango is something that everyone loves. The irresistible aroma and distinct taste can be played with to make new and innovative tastes,” says Chef Brijesh.

Crispy Mango Puff, Sugar free and eggless varieties of mango pastries

The Badami mango has been used for all the preparations for this festival. “The Badami mango is smooth and sweet. It is a more economical counterpart of the Alphanso and a good alternate to it,” explains Chef Brijesh.

“As we go further into the season, we plan on getting more varieties of mangoes from the north like Langras and Sindooris, which we will serve as cut fruits with fresh cream or ice-cream to give our guests an exciting mango experience with varieties that are not easily available in this part of the country,” he adds.

The Crispy Mango Puff does not easily give in to your fork and knife, but the light and cheerful puff leaves you smiling with satisfaction. The Mango Strawberry Cheesecake is a delightful sight in layers of pink and yellow and is as delightful in the mouth as well. The Mango Chocolate Roulade is every child’s dream come true with the tutti-frutti garnishing proving to be an added bonus to the yummy-factor.

The Mango Panna Cotta melts in your month, literally. This frozen dessert is served with fresh mango pulp that makes you forget all about the heat outside and indulge in the flavour. Sugar-free and eggless varieties of mango pastries are also available here. All the treats are reasonably priced at Rs 85 plus taxes.
