MNS renews its anti-migrant stand After world bank shocker that Patna is better than Mumbai for business

Patna has overtaken Mumbai, according to a World Bank report. Bihar's capital is not only less expensive than the financial capital, but is also amongst the top 17 Indian cities favourable for business.

MiD DAY spoke to representatives of political parties to know how they feel about the report's findings.

MNS

The Maharashtra Navnirman Senau00a0 took this opportunity to reaffirm its stand against Bihari migrants to Mumbai.

Shirish Parkar, MNS spokesperson said, "If this is the case, then the authorities and the politicians of the region should set up industries and stop migration.

They should also call back those who have migrated to Mumbai."

Shiv Sena

Preferred to keep mum. Party spokesperson Neelam Gore said, "I cannot comment unless I see the report. It would be wrong to do so."

BJP

The party lost no time in praising their ally Nitish Kumar's government. "The report is shocking, but we can't deny the fact that Nitish Kumar's government is doing a good job.

People are moving to places where there is less red tape," said Shaina NC, spokesperson, state BJP.

Congress

However, the ruling party still thinks that Mumbai is a better option than Patna. Congress MP, Sanjay Nirupam, who has spent considerable time in Patna, said, "There is no comparison between Patna and Mumbai.

The lifestyles are different. Small cities are always less expensive. Mumbai is better than any Indian city.

Mumbai's infrastructure is better than Patna's. When it comes to starting a business, everyone will chose Mumbai over Patna."
