The peddler supplies cocaine to areas in Colaba and Mohammad Ali Road

In a big catch, the police on Saturday arrested a Nigerian drug peddler outside Santa Cruz station who was on his way to deliver 200 grams of cocaine.

However, the arrest was not bereft of drama. The entire police team, consisting of 10 policemen took over 20 minutes to subdue 28 year-old Ugo Salwan Chyakwu and take him to the nearby Vakola Police Station.

According to the policemen, Chyakwu was very aggressive. One of the constables said, requesting anonymity, "We require many policemen to arrest Nigerians. They are very tough to handle and sometimes, they even harm policemen."

The entire quantity of cocaine seized is worth Rs 10 lakh in the city. According to a police officer, they received a tip-off about Chyakwu and laid a trap for him outside the station. He said, "Chyakwu supplies cocaine to areas like Mohammad Ali Road, Colaba, Mira Road and Bhayander."u00a0 Police are currently looking into his passport details to see if he has a valid visa or it has expired. Chyakwu was reportedly in India to work in the garment business.

Later in the day, Chyakwu was produced at the Bandra Court. He has been remanded into police custody till August 30.
