Three days after MiD DAY reported how Nishant Agarwal was arrested for molesting a 14-yr-old, another victim approached cops after reading the story, claiming that she too was molested by him
Three days after MiD DAY published a report (‘40-year-old man nabbed for molesting schoolgirl’, July 27) on how businessman Nishant Agarwal was arrested by officials of Samta Nagar police station for molesting 14-year-old school girl Pooja, another of Agarwal’s victims, Priya, approached the police saying that she too was molested in a similar manner by him while she was on her way to the school in Goregaon (E) some six months ago.

Agarwal was arrested on July 26, a day after Pooja’s mother lodged a compliant at the Samta Nagar police station. Officials said he knew which uniform belonged to which school and approached his victims seeking directions for their schools.
In her statement, Pooja told the cops that Agarwal approached her in a Zen and asked her for directions to a school. When Pooja said she belonged to the same school, he offered to drop her as he too was going in the same direction. After the victim sat in the car, Agarwal drove towards the highway and parked it behind a truck so that the car was out of sight.
Pooja added that he then ripped off her shirt and clicked a few pictures, and threatened that he would upload them on the internet. The petrified girl told her parents about what had happened, following which they registered a complaint against Agarwal. Pooja gave cops the registration number of Agarwals’ car.
“After talking to the girl, we suspected that the man must have committed similar crimes in the past as well. We laid a trap to nab the offender,” said Inspector L G Shinde of Samta Nagar police station.
“The next morning we saw a man approaching a schoolgirl in a golden coloured Zen car. The driver stopped the car and started conversing with girl, and we nabbed him.” Agarwal was arrested and booked for molestation and kidnapping under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Sections seven and eight of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
