Nelson Mandela's favourite poem has these wonderful lines... 'I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul'. And after the South African leader, Kruti Lakdawala and Urmi Patel (both 21) seem to love these lines too.

These girls, who have the professional BMM degree, wanted to be their own boss.

They worked for a while Urmi as a journalist with sportspower.com and Kruti in an ad agency and collected enough capital to start their own food stall in Mahavir Nagar, Kandivli.

"We decided on opening a sandwich stall. Even during a recession, people love to eat," said Kruti. Added Urmi, "God was with us all the way.

A friend suggested we open in front of a grocery store that many people visit. The owner agreed and we inaugurated Nityanand Sandwich with our parents on January 6," said Urmi.

Every day by 5 pm, Kruti opens the stall and Urmi, who works from 11 am to 7 pm with sportspower.com, joins them by 8 pm.

Kruti takes tuitions during the day to keep herself busy.
