Mishra was shocked to see his house ransacked when returned from Maha Kumbh Mela on February 10.
Burglars had decamped with three kilograms of gold, six lakh cash and a licensed revolver, which were collectively worth Rs 1 crore.
The prime suspect of the cops investigating the case was Bharat Vishwakarma who used to clean cars of the residents of the area. Bharat had gone missing from the day of the robbery.
Since they had his phone number, they began tracking his call records to find out who he was in touch with. That led them to five men who were working as watchmen or car cleaners in Borivli and Gorai areas.
The five of them have been identified as Ratan Vishwakarma (20), Kamal (20), Hemal (28), Kapoor singh (40) and Madan (29). Three others, who are a part of the gang, are absconding.
The police officers said that they have recovered a few silver coins and a revolver from these five men. “The other three men have rest of the booty we suppose,” said Bhagwan Chate, senior police inspector of Borivali police station.
The five were presented before the court on Monday where they were remanded to police custody till February 28.u00a0
