A mob in Lokhande Marg area, Chembur pelted stones at vehicles, damaging two BEST buses at around 10pm yesterday (Sunday) night after an autorickshaw driver ran over two teens, killing one and injuring another in a case of rash driving.
A mob in Lokhande Marg area, Chembur pelted stones at vehicles, damaging two BEST buses at around 10pm yesterday (Sunday) night after an autorickshaw driver ran over two teens, killing one and injuring another in a case of rash driving.
Pravin Bhangir Chimur (17) and Rakesh Ganpat Sukhdev (15) were hit by an auto driven by Govind More (24). Both teenagers were taken to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, where Chimur succemed to his injuries. Sukhdev is reported to be in stable condition.
After the incident an enraged mob from the area started pelting stones on vehicles. Cops from Tilak Nagar and Chembur police station were called in to handle the mob.
Situation was tense for at least an hour, according to the cops.
The auto driver was arrested by Tilak Nagar police station and a case of rash driving has been registered against him, said Jagannath Bade, police inspector of Tilak Nagar.
