Controversy over Kapil Sharma's illegal office structure continues. In an episode on Saturday, a complaint letter was submitted to Versova Police station against the comedian for allegedly destroying mangroves while constructing his office. MNS general secretary Shalini Thackeray and an activist Nikitesh Chaubil had on Friday accused Sharma of the same. The complaint letter (of which mid-day has a copy) has been filed by RTI activist Asad Patel. "I have personally visited the spot. It is very evident that mangroves have been destroyed and nearby land has been reclaimed upon by the comedian while building his office," Patel said.

The complaint has been sent through complainant's lawyer. It demands actions to be taken against the comedian under Section 378 of Indian Penal Code, 1860, The Forest Act 1972, Environment Protection Act 1986, and The Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act. When contacted, Kiran Kale, Senior Police Inspector of the station, said, "An FIR cannot be filed. We will investigate to know if there really is a violation. We will then take steps to file a FIR or not."
