The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has big plans for your palate, and if all goes as planned, you will be able to relish assorted snacks for just Rs 20 at all major stations in Mumbai within the next three months.
The IRCTC has already requested Central and Western Railways to provide a space of around 1,500 square feet at each station so they could set up a Jan Ahaar cafeteria whose menu will include Gujarati, Punjabi and South Indian snacks such as idli, vada, dhoklas, samosas, sev puri, kachori and bhajji.

"We aim to offer a variety of affordable food and snacks at all major stations," said an IRCTC official.
IRCTC Group general manager Virendra Singh said, "We hope to execute the Jan Ahaar project within the next three months."
Singh added that IRCTC also hopes to provide Janata Khana (see box) and a wholesome meal to commuters.
In June this year, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced Janata Khana at Rs 10 for the aam admiu00a0 travelling in long distance trains.

Janata khana comprises pooris and aloo bhaji for Rs 10 and is available at select departmental canteens at railway stations.
