Mallika to be questioned over brother's pistol

Versova police officials yesterday arrested Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat's brother Vikram Lamba for accidentally firing from his licensed pistol.

The matter came to light on Sunday when neighbours of Lamba called the officials when they heard a loud bang. The incident occurred when Lamba was cleaning his pistol at his office, located on the seventh floor in Bhaktani Tower.

Rahul Bhatt, son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, was also present in the office when Lamba accidentally fired the weapon, sources said.

The police are now in the process of questioning the locals and have also recorded Bhatt's statement and will soon call Mallika Sherawat, as the firing occurred in a flat belonging to her.

"More people will be questioned in the case. We will be sending the weapon and bullet for forensic examination and calling Sherawat for questioning," said Senior Inspector Sharad Borse of Versova police station. The cops added that they would be probing the grounds on which Lamba received a licence and for any past negligence on his part.
