Mumbai: A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 23-year-old neighbour in Wadala area, police said today. Mohammed Ali Raza Hussain was arrested last night on charges of rape, kidnapping and under relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, they said.
The accused was produced before a court which remanded him in police custody till Thursday. According to police, the girl and the accused stay in the same building in Wadala, Central Mumbai.
On Saturday night, the victim was playing in the building when Hussain lured her on pretext of buying an ice cream. He then took her to an isolated place in the area and sexually assaulted her, they said.
The victim's mother lodged a complaint with Wadala TT Police, which filed an FIR and picked up Hussain for questioning. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime and was subsequently arrested, police added.
