Mumbai: Body lies decaying in drain for days, accident suspected

The decomposed body of a 35-year-old man was found in an open drain beside the railway tracks at Sandhurst Road last morning.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was a teacher from Haryana and had died 3-4 days ago, after falling off a running train. He was identified as Aman Ramachandra Jitendra Singh.


The body lay there all these days, until someone noticed it yesterday and informed the police, who recovered the body at 9 am and was sent to St George Hospital for autopsy. The viscera test is being conducted at Kalina forensic laboratory and histopathology examination at JJ Hospital. “As per the medical report, the body was in the drain for 3-4 days. It was swollen but no injuries were noticed,” said Police Inspector Manik Sathe, CST GRP.
