Mumbai: Car crashes into garment shop near Malad subway

In a case of negligent and rash driving, a BMW crashed into a garment shop near Malad subway on Monday at 11:30 pm. According to officials from Malad police station, the driver of the car fled the spot immediately after the incident.

No casualties were reported in the incident. The driver has been identified as Irfan Mansuri, a resident of Malad (West) who is a businessman.



Malad police has charged him for rash driving and he was let off later after paying a fine. Police officials said Mansuri was driving his BMW (MH 04 ET 1827) and after crossing the Malad subway, the brake of the car failed and it suddenly crashed into a boutique shop on the same road.

The store’s glass was shattered and a bike, which was parked outside the shop, got crushed under the wheel of the car. Senior inspector Arun Mane of Malad police station said, “We charged the driver under sections of the motor vehicle act for rash driving and released him. The driver said that the accident took place due to brake failure.”
