A 10-year-old boy was crushed to death in an accident that occurred on Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road on Friday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Teerth Himanshu Modi, was sitting pillion on his grandfather's scooter when a cement mixer truck dashed into their vehicle. Teerth's parents, even in their moment of grief, have donated his eyes.

Teerth was returning from school at Pant Nagar junction. Along with his grandfather, Chandrakant (65) was his five-year-old sister, who was standing before the front seat of the scooter. They stopped at a signal at the Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road, when a speeding cement mixer truck rammed into the scooter.
The impact was such that Teerth was flung in the air and came under the rear tyre of the mixer. "The left side of the body was injured badly. He was taken to Sapna Hospital first, from where he was shifted to Fortis Hospital. There, he was declared dead around 4 pm," said a police officer from Parksite police station. The driver has been booked under IPC section 279 (Rash driving), 304 A (causing death by negligence), and 134 A and B (Escaping from the spot without rendering help to the victim) of Motor Vehicle Act.
